Hi,

I'm trying to acquire one of these two shotguns. Local dealers cannot seem to get them. I've been told to get a Mossberg 550 or a Hatsan Optima MP-A as alternatives.

I've been told be a co-worker/member here to look here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

unless your a SOF dude breeching doors the MCS is not worth it

Its nothing more then a short 870P with a shot mag tube and barrel strap

Listen to this man. He is a pretty good authority on scatter guns.

go for the benelli. Just added some nice upgrades to mine, handles way nicer with the AFG. Like the eotech reticle but want a smaller/lighter sight.

MCS is useless unless you get the whole kit.

If anyone is charging $2,000 for an MCS it better be for the whole kit including all the barrels, stocks, and the carrying case.

You are better off getting an 870 Police.

Also the MCS quick change stock rattles at the attachment point. A big downside if you are never going to change the stock.

What do you plan on using it for? As you know, one's a semi-auto, one's a pump, so that to begin with is a bit of an unfair comparison, especially in Canada.

The 870 leaves you open to nearly unlimited configurations an barrel lengths and magazine capacities, at the same time remaining non restricted. The M4 leaves you with no barrel options to remain non-restricted.
But between the 870 MCS and the M4, the latter is the much better deal, but there are excellent 870's out there for less than half of a new M4.

If you do decide to go for an M4 and limit yourself to ranges, keep in mind that the 14" restricted ones are tough to resell, should you decide to get rid of it down the road. The 18.5" on the other hand retain their value very well and generally sell quickly.

You won't be getting an mcs unless you get one used. I was talking to Casey about the mcs a couple of weeks ago and Remington won't even sell replacement parts unless you are LE or military. You could build one of course, but that would involve custom made barrels and you wouldn't have the quick change buttstocks (and of course it be restricted if you wanted to use the pistol grip). Best bet is get a good quality shotgun with a 14" barrel and that should cover just about anything you want to do
