So you were looking for an 870 mcs or an M4 an the peson at the gun shop said to get a mossy 500 or a Hatsan?
really did you ask them if they know anything about shotguns, thats like asking about a Lambo and getting info on a fiat...
Lame at best.

I will have to second this strong opinion.

Because I own both and can say the very same thing.

Bolts are very different and the gas actions are alien to each other.

Prices are a HUGE difference.

M4 $2100

MP-A $400

Good luck on your decision !

You won't be getting an mcs unless you get one used. I was talking to Casey about the mcs a couple of weeks ago and Remington won't even sell replacement parts unless you are LE or military. You could build one of course, but that would involve custom made barrels and you wouldn't have the quick change buttstocks (and of course it be restricted if you wanted to use the pistol grip). Best bet is get a good quality shotgun with a 14" barrel and that should cover just about anything you want to do

About a year ago Target Sports was selling the MCS in 18" without the kit for the same price as an 870P and they were brand new. I think they were asking about $800.00 or something like that. So there are some out there. I checked out the gun but the rattle in the stock was a big turn off. Also the push pin system for changing the stock seemed like you could lose the pins.

There was a thread by a guy who paid something like $3,000 for one and everyone jumped in the thread and asked if the guy was crazy. I think he eventually tried to get his money back.

EDIT:

I found the old thread. The other guy paid $2,000. Thread has pics of the gun.
