870 misfires when I am pulling back on the forend

I've discovered a slightly troubling issue with my 870 tactical. If I'm exerting some rearward pressure on the foreend, the gun misfires (light primer strike). I believe the forend is moving the bolt rearward which doesn't allow the pin to make a solid contact with the primer.

Is this common with 870's?
 
are all the parts Remington ?? or is it a after market barrel ?

is it new/ lightly used or older and heavy use ?

Dont have experience with a tactical but do with a 870 and never had it happen to me
 
I don't think that is normal. If you could, you should probably have it looked at by a gunsmith. My main concern would be if it would inadvertently allow the gun to fire out of battery, which would be a very bad thing.

On a side note, to mitigate recoil, instead of pulling back with your support hand, try pushing forward instead. I find this helps significantly in reducing muzzle rise and allows for quicker followups.
 
A big plus one on the not normal... I've shot 870's while pulling back hard on the action; it should fire. Did you buy it new or used? Maybe someone swapped bolts. Also curious if all parts are Remington.
 
I have a new (6 month) 870 express and when I put the NEA 14" barrel on it I got a number of misfires with light primer hits. I have only fired it once with this barrel, using my own reloads.

I am going to fire some factory through it, and try the original 26" barrel as well.

I have never had a problem with an 870 or clone due to rearward pressure on the forestock. Never had a problem with my reloads up to this point...
 
Well this might be part of the problem...

I found that the fore-end tube nut was slightly loose, and the forestock had been moving back and forth very slightly. Enough movement that during recoil, the raised areas of the forestock that the fore-end tube should have been tightened up against have been worn and hammered away a bit, to the point where the forestock has moved back about 1/8th of an inch. I don't know what this is going to do to the lockup.

I will try to find either a new factory 870 express forestock and see if this solves my fail to fire concerns.
