Does anyone know the overall length of an 870 with a DA 12.5" barrel and this stock (folded)?

Any feed back on the stock in general?
Thanks

I don't remember exactly but it's under 26". I put one on my 12.5" HP9 and it was too short so I ended up taking it back off. It wasn't short by a lot though and I remembered thinking if I had a 14" barrel it probably would have made 26".

Thanks, I was really hoping it would be long enough. Luckily I asked prior to buying the stock.

Just get a 12 lop stock.
Or get the Remington 870 with folding stock with 18.5 inch barrel.

I have a 12.5 barrel on my 870, it currently has the standard wood stock.
I am trying to find a folder that will keep it restricted (26" when folded). The 12" LOP stock really does not shorten it much (roughly 32" vs 33" o/a)

I didn't find the knoxx folder all that comfortable or compact really. It folds but it still sticks up in an awkward way and it has no cheek weld to speak of.....it's pretty much right at 26 inches.

2 questions:
-It looks very close to 26" - would you be comfortable carrying it as a non-restricted?
-Can you think of any other folding or takedown stock arrangement that would work better when unfolded, but still achieve a compact 26"+ carry length? I am tempted to just saw off the wood stock at 26.25" and come up with a removable stock extension, but I would prefer something permanently attached. Something like this would work, but I don't think I am allowed to import this from the US:

It's very close so it's hard to say but if you welded or epoxied a permanent sling loop onto the sling stud it might help!
I think a Hougue short stock would be handier and lighter.....I just didn't like the feel of the folder and how far it sticks up on top when folded. What's the point of a folder that is clumsy and hard to stash when folded! They should have figured out a way to let the butt end fold flat on top like a Remington LEO folder.
I also tried a Sage similar to the other one you posted and it was heavy duty as in heavy and it also suffered in the cheek weld department for me.
I've heard of guys importing an airsoft version of the sage which is lighter but obviously that comes at a cost.....

A 12.5 with a youth stock is pretty handy and if you really need shorter you could get an 8.5.

What are you going to use it for?

What are you going to use it for?

That is an embarrassingly difficult question to answer  !
I have an NEF single shot 12 Ga for a truck and grouse gun.
I have a beautiful 35yo mint condition Wingmaster with a 20" rifle sight barrel that sits in my bedroom safe (passed down from my father) sort of a safe queen/emergency home defence gun .
I had the urge to by an old beat up Wingmaster on the EE a few months ago and put a 12.5" barrel on it, then I bought a 26" vent rib, rem choke barrel on the EE thinking I would like to try shooting clays (still hasn't happened). So the old Wingmaster is maybe going to be a combination clay gun, compact backpacking/canoeing gun and compact range toy - maybe?
I really don't like the 8.5" design since I can't mix and match barrels with the other 870's and you are limited to 2+1 rounds, and your'e fingers are awfully close to the muzzle.

Thanks C!

I had one of these hideous stocks on my 14" 870 once. It does meet the overall length req. Its hard to deploy either way, and ends up putting a long mark on your receiver as the rail, at least on mine, scraped the side of the 870 when collapsing or extending. I ended up selling it and just using a short LOP stock.

Thanks for that! I had been lusting after one one these - now I am finally over it (I think).

Mine 12.5 inch 870 is actually 30 or 31 with the 12 inch lop stock.
I have to double check.

The consensus seems to be to ignore all these folding stocks and just use a shorter LOP fixed stock. I can see the logic in that. So here is my little experiment:

I took my beat up old Wingmaster stock and cut it to try the shorter LOP. The total length reduction is about 1 3/8". With just the cut wood stock I am at 31 1/2" OAL, if I add the Limbsaver back on I am at 32 3/8" OAL. I don't think I want to go shorter than 31 1/2" as far as shooting comfort is concerned. If I cut it any shorter the Limbsaver will be too loose. So I will leave it like this, for now, unless I decide to get a smaller Limbsaver.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think you guys potentially saved me several hundred $ in folding stocks that I would not have been happy with.
