I'm going to a local gun show in about a month and a half.

Looking to spend <= $400 on a 870 Type shotgun then upgrade it.

I want to put on a 1+ magazine extension if i find a 14'' or a 2+ magazine extension if I find an 18''. Could go longer if I find a ribbed barrel 870 (good for 3 gun ----- 8+ tube extension ha!)

DA Grizzly / Norinco HP9: No mods? Just screw off the magazine cap and replace with the extension?

870 Wingmaster: No mods? Just screw off the magazine cap and replace with the extension?

870 Express Hunting: Has mag tube dimples which have to me drilled out, voids warranty if new.
Does the extension attach the same way?

870 Express Tactical (Old Model): No mods? Just screw off the magazine cap and replace with the extension?

870 Express Tactical (New Model): Has mag tube dimples which have to me drilled out, voids warranty if
new. Does the extension attach the same way? (I guess a 1+ would fit?).

I hate seeing tactical shotguns with the barrel hanging past the mag tube. So much wasted potential. (Hence why I don't like the new 870 Express tactical.)

Also do the DA/NORINCO 870's need a special metric bolt to mount an aftermarked stock?

Removing the dimples is easy. Use a dremmel not a drill. I wouldnt touch the norinco shotguns, they seem to be pretty hit or miss. For your price range you may be able to find a used wingmaster. I would decide what you want your final product to look like before buying anything. For example I just built an 870 20" barrel magpul furniture +3 extension. That gun started as a 20" turkey gun brand new bought it with the intent of a tactical 3 gun style conversion. Where is the gun show?

Kamloops BC in late april.

I am rather bothered, last year at the gun show I found a great condition laminate stock wingmaster magnum with both a 28" hunting barrel and a 18'' barrel for $370. Bought a 10/22 instead as my first gun. (I am a new gun owner I didn't have any guns at the time).

My HP9 had the dimples like the Express. I just pounded them out using a socket inserted in the mag tube and a bench vice. If I really wanted I may be able to restore them if I wished.
