Nice!

That's a hell of a setup for a bear gun, or is this more of multipurpose go-to?

Lube her up and rack her like she owes you money ! :dancingbanana:
If you manage to youtube some slugs/buck blowing up stuff let us take a peek !

Did the light come with the mount? If not, could you point me in the right direction.

No the light cam with itself and no mount the mount can be found on brownells website. I cant hotlink but search
"Remington tactical barrel clamp" its made by Messa tactical. They are about 80$

Hit the range in the morning, and all went as planned.

It was about -15 with a 40km left to right wind, which made the paper targets difficult to say the least.

All worked out in the end.

The ammo used was Challenger 2 3/4" 00 Buck 9 pellet. All the pellets were kept on paper at 5,10,15 and started to loose pellets at the 20, and 25. The spread is about 1" per meter which is very acceptable.

The slug ammo that was used is Federal True Ball and Federal Blue Box. The range was at 50m, both groups are 3 rounds each. Each group was fired at the same target as I expected the POI to vary from ammo brands but they landed roughly the same spot. Groups are OK not the greatest at the 3-4" mark, but keep in mind they were fired free hand kneeling at 50m in the cold. I'm sure with a bench and bag they could be improved upon.

Your slugs are minute of bear. I don't use buck for anything. Shooting in cold weather windy is more realistic than the bench and rest. Try standing one shot at random targets at bear range 5-30 yrds. 6" pie plates on stakes at different ranges scattered side to side. These are the targets we use for initial training then move to the random shots. Please excuse the Marlin.

If you dont reload what is the benefit of a 45 70 over a shotgun with slugs? At bear distances my 3 inch slugs should do the trick just as well as a 45 70. Im asking as ive been curious myself.

Cylinder choke or improved cylinder?

I do reload. There are areas that are shotgun only ie. Parks Canada sights around town etc. So I do carry a shotgun in those areas Moss. 590. We also do guarding in areas out on the tidal flats open tundra with large groups of people meaning shots can be farther out. Those areas we carry rifles. I prefer a rifle my carry rifles are 47-70,9.3x62,.375 H&H.30-06. It depends where I am what I carry. With large groups of people some tend to wander farther than they are told. At 50 yards on a side shot on a running bear I don,t want a shotgun. And I know some of you think it is enough, I just want a rifle if that scenario comes up.

You can always switch to FliteControl if you want tighter patterns, if not that then even standard type premium buckshot like Winchester XX 00 should make a difference.

You might want to try different slugs too, not that the ones you have are necessarily shooting badly but sometimes you can get lucky and find a load your barrel really likes.

Sounds like you have a cool job. Send me a pm if you do tours of grizz country as i always wanted to see a grizz from a safe distance lol.

Thats easy, just go too Grande Cache and be hunting Grouse. Ran into a grizzly twice while only carrying bird shot.

Both times he stood there sized me, and only ran when i shot into the air.

Great set up! I also use ghost ring type sights, and a side saddle for extra slugs.

I also use a 12" LOP Hoque stock which is great for OAL, but bad if my thumb is too close to my nose when using magnum slugs. :(

Also upgraded the pump forearm for a flashlight to.

All in all what other gun is this flexible.
