870 receiver prices?

So.... point of the whole rant is some are trying to capitalize on the PERCEPTION that old Wingmasters are ALWAYS better and should cost more.
What's wrong with that? Supply and demand drives prices and is the basis of free capitalism.

You don't like the prices? Supplies increase and prices drop. I'll take that over state run pricing anytime.

What's wrong with it is people eventually always push too far and price things out of the regular guys hands.

Maybe the gov't should step in and control it. Right?

The problem with that is that free enterprise is not allowed to run freely and will withdraw from the market causing shortages and even higher pricing.

What's your point? Per SuperCub, free market economy means supply and demand. If someone believes the value to be x and seller believes it to be xx, then seller will keep inventory.

What's a regular guy? Firearms, arms in general, were never a poor man's hobby. Don't like it, don't buy. Can't afford it, don't play.

The problem in this case is not the government, rather it's some greedy people.

Call em. They are very helpful.

No. I won't waste their time asking for something that I will never get done. I assumed you knew the numbers off the top of your head based on all of your earlier posts
I was told 3rd party to expect to pay close to $500 plus shipping both ways with my own express core supplied which makes a vintage wingmaster at the asking prices we are discussing a real good deal

sure, minus the flex-tab mod & 3" mod on a WM.... which evens it out.

I've had the work done awhile ago and only have a rough idea at this point, not the exact numbers. Like I said, if one really want's to know go to the source.

I'm not arguing for the Express receiver, given the choice I'd buy the WM receiver every time. Picking up another WM tomorrow actually. I'm just not denying the fact an Express can be made into a very good 870 and in the end costs are not far off from each other.

SERIOUSLY.... !! because you now ask the going price for a Wingmaster receiver your greedy??

And yet you continue to justify the cost comparisons between a Wingmaster and your tweaked Express and can't supply the numbers..

I didn't say the problem lay with the gov't, I said that maybe they should govern pricing so greedy people cannot get top dollar. It was actually snide comment against so much gov't control over our lives.

I think most folk who sell on the EE do so at the highest price they can obtain for their wares, myself included. Does that make me greedy?

The gov. of this country can screw off IMO. Completely out of control.

Come on, you know darn well far too many ask new prices for used goods all the time. (I'm not talking about rarer collectable stuff)

there's not a day goes by where I look at the E&E and don't think WTF is this dude thinkin' ? You know exactly what I'm talking' about.

Agree! ....... I'm sick of gov't intervention in my life. I'd much rather have smaller gov't with less taxes. A free market with less gov't control will self regulate according to supply and demand. Your 870s will sell for what the market will bear.

I do know what you are talking about. If his price is too high, it won't sell until he reduces it. Do you sell stuff on the EE for less than what you can get or want to get as much as possible like all the other greedy ones? :)

I would add that not all express are created equal...... the first gun I ever bought with my own coin was a circa 1993 express from Canadian tire.... it killed everything from ducks to deer, had a metal trigger guard and was a solid piece of kit... sure, the parkerized finish was no bluing, but it was "ok", and as my only gun at the time I babied it...... I had no idea at the time in regards to how to do a tear down, yet it still survived with an oil rub down and some wd-40 she argued in the action... this is after thousands of rounds....

The bottom line is this, whether buying or selling, the gun is worth what it is worth to you and nobody else...if it's too much for you, then move on......if, as a seller, you don't get your price, don't sell.....

Lots of whining these days in regards to the EE, but last I checked on CGN, there is no minimum purchase requirement to join and remain a member of the EE...... so buy or don't buy, sell or don't sell......

Well, I don't believe in "there's a sucker born every minute ... AND I SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM". Part of why our country is going down IMO.

Never said that. Going price is going price ..... clearly I'm referring to posts that are obviously asking for a fair bit above going price.

And supply your own damn numbers if it's a topic that interests you.

It cost about $12, and takes about 20 minutes to modify a 2 3/4" receiver to handle 3" shotshells, without replacing a single rivet or needing to refinish the receiver...if you know what you're doing! As far as the flexi-tab is concerned it was introduced to fix a problem that was created from nothing other than a lack of competence, training, and firearms knowledge in new recruits entering the Law Enforcement community in the early 80's. By 1986 Remington simply decided to manufacture all 870s to include the new bolt, slide plate, and carrier (shell lifter) design they had been providing to complaining Law Enforcement agencies for a few years prior.

"there's a sucker born every minute ... AND I SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM"........ WOW!! <eye roll>

Maybe you're a visual learner, because you don't seem to be able to glean anything from the written word and understand it.

Signing off.
