$ 39 difference between the two.

Remington has a bead sight, Dlask looks like it has the rectangle post.

If memory serves recall reading the Dlask is heavier .

Is it worth the extra money ?

Is it that much heavier?

What's the overall opinion on the two ? Finish etc....

Thanks guys.

Did some searching & reading.

Seems like the Remington is just fine and certainly a better deal. Not so sure the heavier Dlask is necessary and some seem to have fitting issues due to thicker walls.

Just as confused now.

I don't have experience with the Remi 14" barrel, but I do have a Dlask 14" that I switched out for my work bush carry gun and it is worth every penny. It is heavier, I remember comparing the contour to a Remi barrel and it is beefier, I don't know if you will really notice it while carrying or at the range, but it is well made and shows quality workmanship. The front sight is a blade, unlike the Remi bead. It is a tight fit and the underside of the foregrip required a slight amount of sanding before I switched to a Hogue, but mine has functioned flawlessly over the years that I have had it. I recommend the Dlask barrel; you won't be disappointed. I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

Cheers

Thanks for the overview Canuckster. There's no doubt the Dlask looks like it is better quality than the Remington.

So I'm guessing with the 14" 870 barrels the one shot extension is the one one that sits flush with end of barrel ?

Dlask, bigger, heavier, but that doesn't mean better quality. Dlask barrels are notoriously too tight on their tolerances so you take your chance on whether or not it will fit your gun. Once installed the lock up lug is a bit out and the bolt will not close on some guns. If you loosen the barrel nut about 2 clicks (on guns with a detent) it's fine. I have nine wingmasters at the moment and my Dlask barrel would only fit on 3 of them. If it fits your gun, they are an excellent barrel although they are near double the weight of the Remington. The extra thickness does make it ideal for screw in chokes though. Mine stays on it's particular gun and shoots good and more importantly hit point of aim (unlike the Chinese barrels).

The Dlask is just too damn heavy IMO, the profile is thicker than even the already ridiculously Police barrels and make the gun handle like a lead brick.

Hey 870P,
You said almost the exact same thing in my post 4 years ago! It's true, they are 'heavy', but I think its relative to what you want. I didn't find it too heavy and I packed that shottie over hell's half acre for a couple years, but I'm not a small guy either.

Anyways, wish you well and good luck to the OP.

Cheers

Have a genny 14" P barrel on my 870 and it don't look or feel much heavier than a factory 14".

S&J +1 fits so well, you would think it was designed to fit.

EE or Dlask. Remington is on record as saying the state dept. won't allow them to export any more, it was a one time deal.

When they said there would be no more, I bought 2 or 3. I remember when a Genuine well used Remington barrel would go 4 $400 on the EE and actually sell almost instantly. Dlask makes his barrels several times a year so even though they may be out at the moment it usually doesn't last too long. If you want one, put in your order and you won't miss out, just so you know though Dlask isn't big on their communication skills, I find better to phone and talk to someone

I almost bought a Dlask but waited out the long over-due arrival of the Remington barrels. Glad I did. I ended up buying (4) of them for 870's I already had and kept an extra one for a future project. For only $155 each (at the time) I wasn't shy about ordering as many as I could reasonably afford.
