I went to lebarons on Friday after work and pick up my new 12g 870 remington tactical, it's a pretty sweet set up threaded 18.5" barrel xs ghost ring sights can't wait to hit the range and and pattern it for turkey season:D

Can you shoot slugs through the adjustable choke? I have seen different answers on this and was wondering if anyone really knows from experience (numerous slugs down a barrel with removable choke.)? Congrats on the sweet shotgun by the way!!!

yup i shoot lots of slugs through my 870 tactical and if you buy a rifled choke tube you can fire all the sabot slugs also it will take any of the rem chokes

I took off that stupid extended "tactical/breeching?" choke and put in a modified cylinder choke. Have put slugs through it a few times with no problems.

I have heard horror stories of removable chokes going downrange with rifled slugs. I haven't had the nerve to try it with mine yet, but I think I will.

Congrats on your new firearm, let us know how you like it! was thinking on a tactical shotty..whether it be a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870.

Just make sure to tighten the choke in good and tight.

I have put tons of slugs (rifled and hollow point) through my Benelli M4 with removable choke, both a cylinder bore choke as well as the factory modified choke, and no problems.

I have heard that slugs achieve their greatest accuracy when using an improved cylinder or modified choke because of the slight squeeze acts as a muzzle crown of sorts, but haven't been able to verify this with my own testing.
