Does any one know if you can get a 870 shorty barrel that takes choke's?
Preferably 12 to 14 inch barrel's?
Or is 18 inch barrels the smallest you can go that will takes screw in chokes?

Unless the barrel is paper thin at the muzzle, it is not a big job to get a 'smith to thread it for tubes. When I was looking around for this service the cost was ~$100-$125 per barrel.

Interesting...
I thought since they were improved choke that it would be hard to do.
Thanx for the insight guys.
;)

The Dlask barrels are ridiculously thick and are easily threaded for a choke, I'm sure they'd thread it for you.

Can't remember as it's been four years, I think it was very reasonable around $350-400. I don't see them on Dlask's site anymore, I hope to goodness all our Chinese importing dealer "friends" haven't at last sank that line of Dlask's business they copied so blatantly.

Marstar was selling HP-9's way before Dlask started making barrels....they got into it because Remington wouldn't or couldn't supply their northern civilian cousins anymore.

NEA's going ahead with their copies of the rem 870 short barrels so I don't think Chinese copies are getting in the way of Dlask' copies.

The Chinese ones aren't fully compatible with Remingtons anyways as far as I'm concerned.
I only use them on Chinese receivers where they fit and work well.

Hey I'd buy a Remington if they'd sell them to us but for some reason the Americans don't trust us anymore?

Ok, I thought you were talking about the 14's and 12.5's.....Marstar doesn't sell super shorties. I guess CanadaAmmo saw a market for cheap range blasters but Dlask can still compete on quality. It's not like Norinco 1911's are slowing them down although Dlask probably does custom work on them as well.

I agree Dlask's super shorties are probably dead in the water as it's a gun mostly for fun at the range and the Chinese ones do that just fine at a much lower cost.

For most people that need a good bush gun a 12.5 with a regular length mag tube makes more sense.

There still is a market for them to make good 12.5",14" and maybe even 15" Remington compatible barrels for people that want a good Rem spec barrel.

That is not exactly accurate. The chinese barrels fit perfectly on my old wingmaster

Most people share your experience but the 3 different barrels I tried on 4 different Rem receivers were all mis-indexed the same leading me to believe that's how they were made. They indexed perfectly in a Chinese receiver but they all looked like this in a Remington, I didn't shoot it and I'm sure it would have fired as the bolt was locking up fine, but it's not what I would call perfect.

Luke, if you have the time and inclination, post a picture of your perfectly fitted Chinese barrel on your Remington receiver. I'd love to see it as so far I've only heard of it.

8.5" and 6.5" 870's were so very common on Marstar's site. You'd have to have your head in the sand not to see the link, especially in the timing. No room for Chinese in my cabinet, especially when great stuff is produced right here at home and needs our support.

You really hate Chinese products eh!

I noticed as well Dlask doesn't have there barrels on there web site and NEA doesn't have a time frame for there barrels so Chinese seems to be the only option right now. Has anyone heard if Dlask is still making there barrels

when a Dlask barrel that costs more than a complete Chinese 870 clone has a far worse chamber, it makes you wonder if that reputation for 'great quality' is actually deserved, or simply taken for granted.

by this point nearly half a dozen Grizzlies have passed through my hands and all of them had nice smooth chambers. just sayin'

Yep sure do, we're selling our country and prosperity piece by piece through the walmart crowd. Sounds drastic but it's the straight truth; you buy, you vote. Money votes harder than ballots anyday and we have a lot of communist voters on CGN. Yes, our phones and computers are made in China, we don't make those here. Guns, we do, and damn good ones. I support Europe, the US, and anyone else who shares our values and political system with every major purchase I make from guns to vehicles. We need all the help we can get. And folks please don't try to tell me because the circuit boards in my new Canadian Windsor engined F150 are Chinese I'm a bigot. We can't do it all, totally boycott, but we can make responsible decisions. Dealers killing a Canadian product through blatant copying with Chinese products isn't unfortunate, it's shameful.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all, NA made is almost always a better choice. I think in this case availability of the barrels seems to be part of the problem. NEA seem to have no real time frame for there shorties to be completed and Dlask does not keep a constant production of there's. Other then those two companies what other choices is there?

Dlask used to have dozens of short 870's barrels ready to ship, since a few dealers started the big Chinese wave that's ended. What you're describing is my entire point; the production of a home grown company, with Canadians running it pulling real wages, being choked off by Chinese copycats. Dlask would meet the demand, as they did previous to the wave of Chinese knock offs, if the market chose Canadian.

Unfortunately the days of giving a crap about where your stuff comes from seem to be over. I come from a farming background, and to this day buy Canadian produce, meat, grain and so forth. Chose my truck because the engine's built in Windsor and the rest in Deerborne. If it's not produced here, or not in season in Canada, I do my best to avoid it. 870 barrels were produced here and good ones, now Canadian makers have to compete with China thanks to dealers and customers who don't give a crap. Thanks for listening. :)
