I've been thinking about this for a while but finally got around to it....
Instead of reshaping a 12 g. 870 stock to fit the smaller 20g. receiver of the 7600/7615, why not use a sling loop as the adaptor!

First I had to reshape the rounded part that fit around the back of the trigger gaurd to a more square shape.

Then I reduced the male side of the sling loop to match the smaller 20g. receiver.

After a bit of hand tuning with the file I ended up with a pretty good fit.

In this picture you can see the size difference between the 870 and 7600 receivers.

Wide angle:)
The total overall length is about 28 1/4" with the pachmayer grip.

nice, so its still non-restricted...
pretty sweet :)

how accurate are these pump Remingtons? only reason i havent purchased one till now is that they seem to be built similar to the Remington 750 which, based on the ones ive fired, isnt the most accurate platform.

is the barrel removable? ie: the bolt locks into the barrel like on an 870?

I just got this one and have not shot it yet, but the 7600's have a reputation for descent accuracy.
The barrel is free floating and does not remove easilly like on the 870.

like can-down i have one mod. 7600 in .30-06. it is very accurate. it was bought in 1990 with a tasco 3-9x40 scope and the cross hairs have never been touched.it's had plenty of use for moose, deer and bear.i've never heard any complaints about their accuracy for hunting.

The sling loop is from http://www.sjhardware.com/ but I think any sling loop would probably work.....you just need to make it fit.

Dlask might have some old stock as well as they were making them but I think they stopped. I seem to recall they were blowing them out cheap a while back.....
Simon (sjhardware) was nice enough to sell me one a while back that was not laser etched and if I recall I think it was $30.00

I will most likely use the stock that came with this carbine but I would like to try my Knoxx stock on it as well and with this adaptor I can switch stocks with my 870 without further modifications...

I've never shot .223 before but if the recoil is mild enough I think that this Carbine would shoot nicely with just the pachmayar pistol grip and some shooting sticks...:50cal:

I have a 35 whelen factory carbine which I changed out the wood for a synthetic forend and installed a Knoxx NRS pistol grip stock on. It wears a new EGW pic rail and 30mm EGW tactical rings holding a Leupold LPS 1.5-6x42mm scope. This rifle is the tops for a nice light bush gun that packs a hell of a thud! I also mount my 2x Aimpoint on her for fast action in close

Yes indeed always an easier way to use a small plate adaptor.

Did you leave the reshaped bare aluminium as is? The potential problem is that it may be softer now that is has been ground down and over time(and firing), the fit might not be as tight (?)

For steel people often have to re-harden with heat treatment...while for alu, people often re-anodize.

the aluminium depending on the type can be reasonably hard and i would hazard a guess and say that it would be harder then the original plastic stock .

we uese 6061 and 7075 for out sling plates, the 870 is 7075 and even if it was not anodized your not going to see it break.
steel mount is not needed , trust me your will break you gun befor you break that sling loop.
The items we make are the strongest and finnest made you will find anywhere in the world.
The 870 plate we use and in use by many of ontario,s ERT teams, the rcmp and have been used in afgainistan and iraq.

The fit getting loose shouldn't be a problem as I tapered the the insert to match the taper of the receiver and it's a snug fit.

The anodized layer is quite hard and I actually used a hack saw blade to break through it and rough cut some of the material to speed up the filling.

Once through the anodized layer the alluminium is soft and easy to work.

Very cool indeed Can Down

BBB, I have no doubt your adaptor plates are super strong. I did purchase one afterall :)

Just more of curiosity as I never attempted(nor would I) cutting through your plates
