Hi there

Looking for some good upgrades for my Rem 870 tactical

Came stock with ghost ring sights

So far it has a Knoxx Recoil reducing stock. Surefire fore end

Any good function improving upgrades ? Follower? Extractor etc ?

Available in Canada or somewhere else?

Thanks

Lots of upgrades available. A couple of my go-to manufacturers are MESA Tactical, and Vang Comp Systems. Give Casey at Tactical Ordnance a call. He is a stocking dealer and THEE best shotgun gunsmith in Canada, in my opinion. He'll know execatly what to do with your 870, and he can also advise you on how to proceed with any upgrades before you actually go ahead with them.

Oversize safety (note, only a few will work with a Knoxx) no jam follower, could find a wingmaster or police trigger group, consider some kind of side saddle, etc.

I have one 870P with trijicon ghost rings, 14" Police barrel, +1 scattergun tech ext, Surefire forend with a Malkoff drop in light upgrade, Mesa side saddle, LEO adapter, single point sling plate, and crosshair adapter, Magpul CTR stock, & MIAD grip with CR123 insert (extra Surefire batteries.) Next time it comes apart I'm putting in an oversize safety and I might change over to one of the newer Velcro based side saddles.

I had the Knoxx and could never come to like the cheek slap.

Can u recommend a good oversize safety for the Knoxx? Best no jam follower?

How do u like the malkof upgrade ? I find the output on the Surefire pretty low

Back up ejection seat for your extractor. 870s (only under some severe fouling) are well known for having weak ejection, especially with the oversized brass shells (Bass Pro is notorious for selling these). Most of the Police models are coming from the factory (mind that these are built on separate production line) equipped with the ejection seats. Once you get one fitted to your action, you are good to go.

Only the Wilson Combat safety will work with your stock. Do not buy the S&J or Vang or any of the other ones. A no-jam follower, police spring, and police extractor are all easy and inexpensive mods you can also do. All my 870's and 1100 wear Mesa side saddles too.

Thanks for the props guys, yes we do have lots of shotgun products
Few notes our safety will work with the knoxx stock but id advise useing that stock
Also the name " no jam follower" is our trade mark , we always smile when we hear aftermarket followers called no jam folowers
But not surprising as ours is the number one selling follower worldwide

It's certainly brighter than the Surefire, it's rated at 325 lumen and the first gen surefire are 100 or 200 lumen (depending on how many CR123 are in it.) I'm assuming you have one of those and not the new two mode 200/600 lumen Surefire.

I also ditto the S&J stuff, had zero problems with my followers and the price is reasonable.

I'm gonna assume you meant you advise against using the Knoxx :)

The old SF forends did not have a very strong light. The current 200 LM I find are very effective. I'd look for a 14" barrel, S&J velcro sidesaddle (or if $ isn't a problem the VangComp via Casey at Tactical Ordnance), MESA stock, and SS follower (I think mine is Vang). Also a front and rear sling loop (for QD sockets) with a nice 221 BFG sling.

The incan sure fires are the dim ones, but those are long discontinued. The led updates had 200 lumen, and the totally new ones are 600 lumen on high.

I could see the 600 setting being useful for outdoor situations, as it is the 200 setting is plenty of light for inside/close quarters.

My Surefire is Incan non led. Not very bright

What's the downside to the Knoxx stock?

Are you upgrading to an LED head? Besides being butt-ugly I don't know of any downside to the Knoxx, but then I don't know if they are worth the claims they make for recoil reduction.

Pistol grip - slower than non-pistol grip stock as far as reloading goes. More moving parts - more chance for stuff to break.

I personally don't see the need for recoil-reducing stock for 870 unless you're shooting 3.5" turkey loads on every trip.

For 14" barrel you want the single cell SF... 100 lumens but still plenty for indoors.
