870TC price check

Pics and what mods are done to it
Most 60's had adjustable stocks fitted, forcing cones worked on, barrel porting , choke tubes installed etc etc
Does it still have it's original trap barrel ??
What does the wood look like some the tiger wood is worth more than the gun
Cheers

My 870TC had a solid steel bar inserted in the mag tube instead of the normal plug.
It limited magazine capacity to one plus one up the spout.
It also served to add extra weight to the forearm which helped with follow through and reduced recoil. When I passed the 870 on to it's next owner I kept that nice little option behind.
The 870TC should have better than normal quality wood.
Mine was what you would call no less than grade 2 walnut and hand checkered. Also the rear stock was slimmer than normal production in the grip area.
If I recall 870TC's are custom shop and 870TB's are mainline ,but I stand to be corrected as I haven't shot one for 20 years now.
Regardless they are very nice clays guns.

Point me towards an 870TC for 500-600.00 in decent shape with nice wood and I'll buy it in a heartbeat. So will a lot of other people. These were not your average 870s.
Edit: Nevermind, I found an 870TB on the EE for 595.00. Some genius carved his name in the side of the receiver though. I also found this, FYI.

870TB

Trap grade 870 made in the 1960's and 70's with choice of conventional or montecarlo stock, semi-fancy to fancy wood with pressed checkering (due to manufacturing limitations at the time). Discontinured in 1982.

870TA

- Similar to the 870TB with plain wood.

870TC

1.) Like the TB, trap grade 870 made in the 1960's and 70's. The TC of that time came with choice of conventional or montecarlo stock, semi-fancy to fancy wood with cut checkering.

2.) There is a later version which was introduced in mid to late 1980's, discontinued in 1995. It has the step rib, overbored barrel, nice wood, cut checkering. Distinctive in that the fore end reaches back just past the front of the receiver with the action closed (similar fore end style to the single shot "Competition" Trap).

870 Classic Trap

- Latest 870 trap gun, introduced in 2000, still in production.

Your a lucky guy you seem to get top $ for every gun you sell . But there are many that sit at 500-600

Has nothing to do with luck. Has to do with the condition of every gun I own and the grade here in this case. I never kept any trash or well used and always tried to keep as close to mint as I could examples since I never originally intended to sell any . They were all bought for my collection originally and I take good care of my guns
The wood on the one I have now is unreal and would go for that easily alone if someone is into them
You my friend I have watched now for many years , value others here low and believe me I have never seen you list one in the EE of yours for less than the high end range values
I have no clue if they are worth it since you never post a pic
It is pretty clear you have no appreciation for old remingtons just like I have none for model 12's other than 28ga and yes we have both worked on and sold many of each back in the day with our backgrounds
Maybe I am nuts but when I see wood that looks like this on any old 870 or 1100 I buy it

Cheers

That wood set is beautiful to say the least!

I’ve recently come into possession of a mid 60’s vintage 870 TC and am curious of its desirability and a rough value.

Thanks

I have one and the barrel and receiver have same serial number. I've never seen any 870 barrel with serial number on it does yours? (paid 375 and it rough but I like the lumber)

That's amazing for a factory 870 set.

That set of wood is out of the Remington custom shop would be my best guess? What grade of 1100? An F grade? I doubt that was on any standard trap or skeet grade? My T(tournament) grade had beautiful wood but not that beautiful though that forend and stock have the T checkering pattern.

Nope not custom shop in this case. Some run of 1100 sporting or something like that I would have to look it up in the mid 80's
Here is another one same model. They were production guns that I remember
