just bought 88 winchester in 284 and the trigger pull is really heavy, was wondering if anyone can tell me how to lighten up the trigger pull.

Its referred to as an Model 88 Winchester or a Winchester Model 88. A very difficult trigger mechanism to work on. "You" will not be able to do anything to it. Most gunsmiths don't even want to try and make it better. There are no adjustments within this mechanism. The same goes for the Winchester Model 100.

The Model 88 is notorious for its crappy trigger. My Dad summed his up nicely, '#### it, you don't notice when there's something in your sights'
