887

I have an 887 and I like it. I use it for geese and ducks, and well, you can't make something more dead than dead. So far it has shouldered nicely, fed shells and thrown shells when I've wanted it to, and hasn't given me any problems.

Yes the stock is pretty cheap and the recoil pad is nothing to scream home about, however it's better than a thin piece of vinyl. It does help some. The stock, well, not much you can do about that. I didn't want wood and got what I wanted.

As far as looks go, it definitely stands out in a crowd. It's beefier but not heavy. For the purists out there that like the classic 870 look, it's not for you.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents. I like it, it kills winged critters effectively, can handle heavier loads, can handle low brass shells without jamming, is reasonably priced, looks different than most other guns, shoulders nicely, and is not for everyone.

887 Sucks.

Went out hunting this season, has loaded with slug and shot every other round. I was thinking if I came across a deer I could light it up, or if a bird came along, one stroke and I was good to engage him.

Several times while hunting, I had an issue where two rounds would come out of the mag and into the tray during a pump. Result was the weapon was jammed until one round was pushed back into the tube, or one was dug out of the tray.

Loaned the 887 to a buddy and the same happened to him.

For the price, a new firearm should not have such a problem. Stick with the 870.

Just a heads up I know it's an old thread ,but there is a problem with the bolts metal! The bolt has been shortned so much to reduce weight that it has become prone to pinging (the hammer stakes the firing pin in)so it becomes a slam fire shot gun !

The trigger safety will not overcome this ,and extreme muzzle safety must be maintained at all times while fireing this shotgun.

I would expect to see a complete recall of this model!

Heard about it on ShotGun World ,check it out before you buy or use one.

YMMV Bob
