8ga

I have no desire to buy factory ammo since I can't afford a breechloading 8ga. I would however like a muzzle loading 8ga for deer hunting as I think that would be great fun

When i bought my 8 bore rifle, it came with Winchester hulls modified from the industrial or kiln gun cases and they are fine, there was a place in the US that sold these at one time modified. they are 3 1/4 long and worked fine in my gun with 3 1/2 chambers/ I also have some brass lathe turned 3 1/2 cases. The gun came with lots of wads but Track in the wolf have wads
For bullets i got some round balls with the rifle and have shot them and i also came with a bullet mold of 1200 grains, I also order a .840 ball mold from a company in England called round ball molds which was fast in delivery and a very fair price
On the muzzle loading 8 bore rifle i have i had got a .810 ball mold from Dixe years ago that works
So components are still out there if you find a gun, the 8 bore rifle is heavy for deer hunting but does work

Does any company still make sporting loads in 8ga? I know a few companies make it for industrial uses could those loads be used in sporting arms?

The gun if you can call it the fires 8ga industrial loads for removing slag looks more like a breech loading cannon then a shotgun. The loads would blow up most sporting 8gauges.

Which is exactly why those kiln shells have a ring, to prevent them from just dropping into an unsuitable gun.

For some reason or another, but this thread jogged the grey matter between the ears.
Reliable iirc helped out a member find some ammo for a punt gun .
This was a number of years back and the members name might be Crazy Farmer and he bought this punt gun for an addition to his Man Cave collection.
I could be way off base in naming both Reliable and Crazy Farmer ...not looking to dox or call them out, just talking/typing out loud here.
Anyways, there are punt guns out there as are these 8 gauge guns.
