8mm-Lebel Mannlicher Berthier M16 Bolt removal ?

You remove the screw, and rotate the bolthead to the left. The bolthead will then pull out, allowing the rest of the bolt to follow. I do wish people would stop calling them "Mannlicher-Berthiers". Even my registration cards say that, but the correct name is simply "Berthier".

The Brits were able to abandon their weaponry, retreat to their island fortress, regroup, and hold out long enough until the US and Canada (whose own countries were untouched my war), could join them.
The Russians could retreat back to their frozen country, regroup, and send millions of their countrymen into the fray as cannon fodder.
What does this have to do with Berthiers again?
