Looking for 8mm Lebel ammo on this forum,I've found a thread indicating the name of a company which is reloading several rare calibers like 8mm Lebl or .455 Webley.
I forgot to copy the name of the company and now I can't find it anymore.
Anybody can help pls ?

Thanks a lot.

If you want to reload it 8mm Lebel isn't that hard a caliber to do once you have the dies and brass. Personally I just use a .323dia 198grn FMJ boattail (PPU) with PPU 8mm Lebel brass, under 44grns of IMR 3031. Makes for a very accurate load provided your rifle is in good shape and you do your part. Here is my M1907/15 (mint bore) and the results I have achieved at 100m with irons. These French Rifles are often dismissed without fair judgement. They might be a bit odd, but that doesn't mean they aren't capable.

Just some average shooting here

Best group I have ever done with that particular rifle (3rd group, the capacity of the magazine).

If you like to go with lead projectiles Lee 8x56R bullet is the one to use.I don't know if it's the twist of rifling or else but 8x50 Lebel likes heavy bullets.

Put on 8mm gas check, tumble lube it and you are done.No sizer needed.

Sorry for my incomplete explanation, the 8mm Lebel ammo I'm looking for is for my French revolver Model 1892, not for a Lebel rifle.

I use cut down 32-20 brass, Hornady dies and an NEI mold. I think Jethunter sells the right bullets.

I've heard shells can occasionally be bought but I've never seen any. Wouldn't take long to pay for the reloading gear for the price ammo will likely cost.

Loaded 8mm Lebel Revolver ammunition is only available occasionally and it's expensive when you do find it. You should start reloading. There is quite a bit of information on reloading this cartridge in the Blackpowder and Antique section.

Thanks a lot for these infos, what powder do you use and with which load ? At the time being I use Vihtavuori N320 and IMR SR4756.

I'll have a look for 8mm Shells and let you know if I find.

Thanks Jethunter, I'll gather all the info I need and surely start reloading. Anyway I already reload 45Colt, 38 Special and 45 ACP.
I have your website in my favorites already.

If you already reload then this one is quite easy. I sell 8mm LR bullets and sometimes I have some 8mm LR brass for sale, too. The brass is not hard to make, the hardest part is trimming 32-20 brass to the correct length. Trimming with a hand-powered trimmer takes forever, you really need a power trimmer of some sort. If you have any questions on loading or making brass feel free to pm or email me.

I use 3.0 gr Unique powder with the 110 gr bullet, COL = 1.330". It's a "healthy" load but not "hot". .

I have used Trailboss and Unique but you can make due with quite a few different powders. The Lebel is a well made gun for their age but wouldn't want to try to make a magnum of it.
There have been several threads about reloading for these if you search in the antique forum.

Jethunter and Vagrantviking, thank you very much for all your infos, it's really a great help.
Will follow your advices by the book..
Yes I know the 1892 does not support "hot" loads, it has never been made for.

Happy trails to you.
