I will soon be going moose hunting but I am going to use my old K98k rifle in 8MM. Factory loads are weak so I am going to handload.

I have a bunch of 185 gr bullets and the only rifle powder i have is H4895. What would be a safe max. charge to use to give me the most punch.

HELP

I reload the 8mm 185 grain bullet. The powder i use is imr 4064 and the accurracy is very good . The load i use is 53 grains.

You can safely use the data for the 180 (47.7 grs) rounded down, i.e. 47.0 grs. That would be the max, but does not mean it will be your most accurate load.

Primer choice matters. You will see the lowest pressure with the CCI Standard and the highest with the Winchester, but the velocity difference would be marginal. When not specified, use the "coolest" primer, i.e. the CCI.
