Hi,i would like to know ,what would be the best factory ammo for hunting black bear(deer),good accuracy, and killing impact.range 50m to 200m,thank you
Rifle is Yugo mauser 8mm.(7.92x57mm) (scoped)
target 50m 1 inche grouping
target 100m 2 inches grouping
ammo used 8mm surplus fmj

"Watered down crap" notwithstanding, the North American loadings for the 8mm will do in ANY black bear out to 200 yards. They are not particularly hard to kill.

Shot a bear friday afternoon with my 8x57 the 200 grain woodleigh busted a shoulder, pulped the lungs and sailed on through him. He made it all of 8 feet, no bloodshot meat and no drama, Ive shot a few with the 195 hornady and it works well too.
Even the weaker loaded commercial stuff will certainly kill a black bear, a 196 grain bullet at 22 or 2300 fps is nothing to sneeze at.

I'm not one to post this kind of stuff but you asked.
Pretty standard fare , drive truck down road , spot bear on intersecting road eating grass ,kept going past bear 100yds got out and kicked off boots for quiet sneak in my socks wind was in my favour right in my face. Bear was still there eating grass on the side of road back turned to me, watched to make sure there were no cubs for a bit , knelt down and got ready ,bear turned to face me, lined up on onside shoulder and touched one off@ 40 yds. Bear did the heartshot deer jump collapsed after two strides.
hardly a challenging or newsworthy affair but did end up with a nice healthy 5 1/2 foot eating boar, will put his skull in the salt chuck for the critters to feed on and clean up for me to add to the collection. I'll hold out for his bigger brother with the next tag . To the OP the 8x57 makes a great bear gun and this is the 4th blackie Ive taken with this particular rifle, none have gone far and all shots have been pass throughs.

Nice photo! Never tried black bear meat, partly because they are, bar none, the most fowl smelling beasts when you open them up. :)
