I'm wondering what peoples most accurate reloads are for their 8mm's. I am looking for the powder, bullet and velosity of your most accurate reloads. I just started loading for the caliber. My best ( only) load so far is 47grns of IMR 4064 behind a 180grn Nos BT. about 1 1/4 inch at 100m.
Thanks.

8 mm Mauser

Hi,

use 196 grains bullets, this bullet weight will work the best for that Barrel.
I got some K98 in Germany and loaded them with the Bullet Norma Vulkan 196 grains ( 12,7 gramm ) Powder Rottweil R904 55,0 grains and 55,5 grains OAL= 75 mm Primer= Win LR shoots with good results. All shots of 100 Meters in a inch.

I tried to load Nosler Ballistic Tip 180 grains Cartridge O.A.L = 75,8 mm
Powder Vithav. N140 = 47,5 grains Primer = Win LR result was not so good just 1 1\2 inch.

What kind of 8mm are you shooting (action type)?

Mine is off to the Smith but when it gets back I will be working with the 180
Ballistic tips and 200gr Accubonds.
I have a very long throat in my chamber and seat the bullets as long as possible. It is hard to say if you can do that with yours or not, have you checked your length for the bullet touching the lands?

I have a Model 700 Classic in 8x57, and the 180 Ballistic Tips, 195 Hornady Interlock, and the 200 Accobond will all shoot under 1" at 100 yds. My favorite powder is Vihtavuori N550, but N150 also works well. I tried some surplus WC852 with the 195 Hornady. It shot very well, but velocities were down a bit. I found I could easily drive the 180 Ballistic tip to 2800+ with N550. Regards, Eagleye.

BRNO 21H (20" bbl), I like:

170 grain interlock RL 15 48.5 2428 fps

Good woods medicine, with some range to spare. Also have good success with the 200 grain accubond, but only at velocities so low that I'd worry the bullet would fail to expand.

I used 170g Hornadys most of the time, pushed by 49 1/2g of IMR4064, at a velosity of 2630 fps. I also got a sub 1" group using the Hornady 195g psp and 48 1/2g of 4064. I never ran it over the crono, but 47g gave sent that bullet out at 2510 fps.

Thanks for the info. What I am shooting, just for your interest, is a 8mm on a Rem action with a Lilja 22" medium stainless barrel. The stock is an HS persision that I picked up used and fitted to the action. I know this rifle will shoot good I just wanted your experience so that I could cut down on some reloading time as gopher season is comming and I have to get my small rifles shooting. The barrel was installed by Aberta Tactical Rifle supply, Rick Timmins does great work and is a pleasure to deal with.
