8mm mauser

Ask here so all can learn. Don't worry about dumb questions, I've asked my share.

Yep: it's a discussion forum. Ask and you will get the experience and info of the collective. PM's only give you one person's take and you may miss out on the personal experience and wisdom of others.

Ask away.... we are here to help!

Ditto. I’ve asked questions I thought were dumb that other people found helpful.

Fire away here, many very knowledgeable reloaders. I had many problems and newbie mistakes corrected in a hurry posting here

I’ve been reloading 8mm Mauser for years now for an mg34 and k98
One of us on the forum can for sure help with any questions you have

Unless you rifle is bored for the 318 bullets, the 8mm Mauser is the same as any other rifle cartridge, as far as reloading goes.

For a milsurp that you are using for plinking and informal target work, stick with min or middle loads, or shoot cast. For hunting, to get good performance you should load to nearly max.

IMHO you do not need an expensive bullet, at 8x57 velocity a conventional cup and core does OK. I like the Speer or Sierra bullets. 150 for small (deer) game, or a 175 as an all around hunter, or the 200 gr for serious work. A high BC bullet extends the range of rifle, shoots flatter and further.

A myriad of info on the milsurp forums, or for serious hunting information, try Ballistic Studies.
