My pet load is a 180 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip over 52.0 gr. RL19.
No indication of pressure in my rifle but you might want to start a couple grains lower and work up to it.
I've had fabulous results with the 180 BT and Vihtavuori N150 and N550. Around 52/53 grains, but start lower and work up. I have shot two moose and a big black Bear with this load. Have yet to recover a bullet. Eagleye.
The NA published loadings are close to anemic for the 8 mm. i had to do a fair bit of scrounging years ago, and found a neat little booklet that contains full house loads for 8 mm - on average about 20% more than published max. The OP can PM me if he wants more info.

I agree.
This poor cartridge gets no respect from North American ammunition makers, nor most reloading publishers.
They seem to think it's a European 30-30, as opposed to a European 30-06.
A reloader needs to use published data as a decent starting base and then work up from there looking for pressure signs, and not stop at published max loads in modern reloading manuals.
How true!! The 8x57 has been traditionally loaded "soft" in North America, supposedly to prevent issues in the evnt the .323" diameter bullet gets fired in a .318" tubed 8mm. What hogwash! I drive the 180 to just over 2800 in my 8x57 without any issues whatsoever. Eagleye.
