Hi,

I have RCBS dies but have nothing else. Does anyone have the recipe for making the brass (from another available case) and bullets for this Japanese round for my model 14?

Thanks.

I had an article years ago that used .38 special brass with the rims trimmed.......not much help but it was in a 70's G+A rag.................Harold

Hmmm, I poked around a bit as this cartridge is somewhat similar to the 7.62x25 Tokarev round which I've custom made out of .223 brass. The Nambu has a 10.3mm base, the Tokarev has a 9.9mm base and the .223 has a 9.58mm base. The 38 Spl has an 9.6mm base with an 11mm rim . What I'm saying is the .223 brass diameter when cut and formed, shoots fine in the TT-33. I believe you could make the same brass fit the Nambu. Custom cut a few, load low and fire form them. Let us know how it works out!

I have a copy of the Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions which, as does Mobular's reference, recommends .30 Remington cases. PM for details if you wish.

I made a bunch years ago out of 40 S & W brass. Sized in a 8mm Nambu die then put on a lathe and turning off the big "Magmun like" belt it created. Worked pretty good. This is a pretty low preasure cartridge but the 3 pistols I had loved it and shot quite well and accurate!
