8mm Rem Mag... anyone?

sounds spicy, I was just comparing both loaded to same PSI

Looking at my notes, factory 8mm RM Remington 200gr A-Frame ammo did 2915 fps from my 24" m700 BDL

Sounds spicy...agreed, but No issues with brass, primers or case expansion at those speeds. Of course, that 26"
Benchmark does not hurt any.

No factory ammo that Remington loaded was ever closing in on the limits of the big 8. They originally had 2 loads,
a 185 grain Cor-Lokt and the 220 grain version. The load Mark refers to is one of the few factory loads available
at present. Nosler markets a 200 Accubond at an advertised 3000 fps....it does 3054 avg in my rifle, so in a 24"
Tube, it would probably be very close to the advertised speed.
Be interesting to run the loads by Quickload, just to see what pressures they suggest. Dave.

My 8 has whacked 2 griz and 5 elk and mulies and performed well on all accounts. Have used both 200gr NPs and A-frames but prefer the A-frame. Even with a fluted barrel and lightweight wildcat stock and foam pad I find the felt recoil quite mild which I attribute to the stock design. It is a light carry and pleasure to shoot pushing the 200s. It’s not really a calibre I would have sought out as the 300 and 338 cover things off nicely either side. I’m a huge 338 fan and have 7RM and 300’s as well. I just happened into the 8 and kind of ran with it. In my opinion the 338 is the better choice between the two but it’s still cool to have b/c few people have one:dancingbanana:
