I have one on the way and wondered if anyone has tried OO buckshot with a small charge of Unique?

It might be worth trying depending on how the barrel slugs out.

thoughts?

The French model 1892 revolvers I use to own all measured .323 in the grooves.

A .330 lead ball I'm sure wouldn't be an issue, so little lead that needs to be squished down, it'll do nothing but improve accuracy slightly from good rifling grip.

A charge of around 2.5GR's of unique would likely work.

Don't take my word on that one though, wait for the experts to show.

Of the dozen or so french M92 revolvers I've checked the groove diameter ranged from .326" to.330", with most of them being in the .326" to .327" range. You should be able to shoot .330" soft lead balls quite safely even in a .323" bore since there is hardly any bearing surface and therefore hardly any friction/resistance. But you'd probably get a lot better accuracy using soft cast lead bullets made for the little M92 if you can find them.

Commercial bullets made for the 8x27 (commonly referred to as 8mm lebel revolver) are mostly 0.330". http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/5402

The Cartridges of The World reference to the 8x27 French service cartridge as being .323" is generally considered as just one of the many mistakes present in the book. OTOH, there is always variation possible in the european antiques and the only way to really know what you have is to slug it yourself.
