I recently acquired a Husky in said calibre from a noted board member. Looking at the Lee reloading manual, the load data is quite reduced - most loads are in the order of 35K psi.
I understand the reason for this is due to the older, under-bored rifles. Do any of the current manuals list loads to higher pressures? I'm interesting in data for RE-15, using 150 and 170 gr bullets..

TIA

Try the Alliant website for load data and reduce charge weights by 10% for starting loads (if you didn't already know.) http://www.alliantpowder.com/
I looked on their site and they seem to stay at minimum pressures.

Hodgdon also has a good site that lists higher pressure maximum loads for their powders in the 7.92x57mm but then you would need to be using either Hodgdon, IMR, or Winchester powder.

Here is a Varget recipe form the Hodgdon website: .323" 170 GR. HDY RN, Powder: Varget, COL: 2.825", Minimum load of 43.0 grs. at 2362(ft/s) and 36,700 CUP, to a Maximum load of 50.5 grs. at 2700(ft/s) and 48,700 CUP.

Good luck!

P.S. you can't really go wrong with Varget I've been told. It is what I plan on using for reloading; 8mm Mauser, .303 British, and .30-06 (along with Winchester or Federal brass and Federal 210 primers.) For 7.62x39mm I'm going to try H4198 with Winchester brass and CCI #34's.

Varget is supposed to be a very temperature insensitive powder with good accuracy.

150grn sp
RL15 start load 45 grns 2541fps 36,500 psi
max load 50.2 2816 fps 48,100 psi

170grn rn
start load 43.5 grns 2377fps 36,300psi
max load 48.5 grns 2627 fps 47,200 psi

Hope that gives you what you need to get that old girl working again.

I had best results using IMR4064, and Winchester 748. Varget gave good accuracy only with light loads. The bullets I liked best were Hornady 170's and 195's. The 170's worked good for deer hunting and the 195g bullets had great accuracy well past 300 yards.
