8x57 question

Yes, but that means you need a different internal neck diameter to grip the bullet properly. So while the body resizing would be fine, I think you would need something different for the neck (which you can get for RCBS dies, anyway). I haven't personally tried this though, and could be right out to lunch. - dan

Since the 8x57J dies cost so much, you could try getting another expander for the 8x57 dies chuck it in a drill press and reduce the diameter with emery cloth. Not sure how long that would take, so it may not be practical.
 
The question is, will your 8X57JS die reduce the diameter of the neck sufficiently to give a proper grip on the .318" bullet. The only way to find out is to size some of your cases with the .323" expander button removed and then seat a couple of .318" bullets to find out if they are being held tightly enough. And to do this, of course, you have to have the die......

Maybe you could find a set of 8X57 dies on e-Bay for less, so you wouold not be risking a lot of money if it doesn't work well.....
