9.3 bullet test started. pics posted in #1

Johnn, I think you'd be fine starting with start loads for the 286 gn which every manual has, 4 gns difference in this bore size and weight class in negligible.

Thanks guy. Info along that line, from my copy of the Nosler manual, was what I went by for my initial loads using the prvi 285gr bullets that were the first bullets I got my hands on.

Thought I'd use the same source as a basis or starting point for the 280gr Matrix. However, before doing so, I thought I'd see if Ted had tried them and:) if that knowledgeable gentleman had a pet load.;) Saves me from re-inventing the wheel.
Oh, checking around locally, the only significant amount of Deer sign is close to and in town and close by farms. Archery considerations at best. Here's a couple of what I'm talking about.

There was a buck & Doe as well that I wasn't fast enough to get with the camera. More:rolleyes: 'pruning' taking place in my backyard than I've seen evidence of back in the bush.

back to the test ....

here is the load that will be used unless someone find a big mystake ....

230-235 grains 57 grains of IMR 4064
247-255 grains 56 grains of IMR 4064
270 grains 55 grains of IMR 4064
285-290 grains 54 grains of IMR 4064
320 grains 53 grains of IMR 4064

it is coming.

it will be shot in a zastava and have enough IMR 4064 to do it.

I thought a report on my new Tikka T3 lite in .366 Wagner would be a good way to bump the thread.

Very impressed with this out of the box rifle, the trigger came at 3.5 lbs. I adjusted down to 2.5 for a clean breaking trigger that feels good. I replaced the recoil pad with an Airtech limbsaver and filled the stock cavity with spray foam with 6 200 grain .44 bullets to improve the balance. Firing Speer 270 grainers in a light rifle can be hard on the shoulder however the pad soaked up recoil adequately my shoulders fine although my necks a little stiff.
I started at 56 grs. IMR 4895 ending at 60 grains without any pressure indication finally decided on 59 looked like the best grouping

Had a couple flyers but I'm on the right track
Sorry about the large pictures I don't know to make them smaller

eastbranch,

that will be in our conversation this friday while ice fishing winter is close to be over and i have a mountain of milk jug in the back yard ... and from what my wife said they had to be gone very soon and before end of spring bear season ... seems the time frame is set up now ...

Phil + Ted did you die from milk poisoning before collecting enough jugs?

This has been Phil's project from day one, not mine. I have been busy fishing.........

Five weeks ago.

Last Thursday while bear hunting.

And, am planning to continue doing so. ;)

Will be lending him a hand testing some soon, however.

Ted
