9.3 Interlock on Moose?

Well, I have a decent (for me) stock of the 286 gr. Privi's, so I think I'll try those when I get my rifle back together, and if they're not up to par, I'll try the Hornady or the Speer. Thanks everyone, lot's of info to think about.

Cory

They will be all you need, Cory. Haven't used them myself, but several guys up here have, and have not heard one bad report. They work!

Of course, they were designed to do just that. :)

Yes the bullet jacket never made it through a shoulder blade the core made a huge surface wound like a shotgun.Imagine trying to stop a grizzly with that...............Harold

Last October friend of mine shot the 3point buck frontally in chest with new 338 cal Hornady 200gr IL from his 338 Federal rifle and we found less than 50gr worth jacket of the bullet in the hart. Bullet failure? hardly b/c of the dead buck but all the rest of them are designated for paper punching only....

frontal chest hit on Mulie doe never expanded through 1 yard of flesh Unacceptable Failure YES AGAIN IMO...........Harold

I had the same type of thing happen with a frontal chest hit and a speer bullet. I believe that the pointed ridge of the sternum caused the bullet to spin around backwards. I found the bullet in the rear leg pointing backwards. The wound channel was 30 cal as and could be clearly witnessed by the in and out holes in the stomach and intestines. The bullet looked exactly like the one in your picture. I believe that it did not matter if the bullet was a Speer, Hornady, Nosler or what ever as the effect was not the bullets fault but rather the angle of impact.

I have seen another deer shot face on that got away. I believe it was due to defection of the bullet off the sternum causing some kind of problem. Sternums are hard and angled funny if you are shooting at the animal head on.

The Hornady Inter-locks are a great game bullet - used them for 20 plus years in a 270 Winchester - 150 grain. Also used them on 2 trips to South Africa in a 375 H&H - 270 grain spire point on animals ranging from a tiny Steenbuck to a big Blue Wildebeest and a Greater Kudu.

They were good up until 5 years ago or so.......................I have remnants of a 130gr Hornady that blew up on a medium sized black bear at 20 yards this spring......the company denies any jacket change, but I beg to differ..........Harold
