I haven't been able to locate anything of the like, but I can't believe they don't exist. I want to go with either a RN or semi-spitzer bullet in my 9.3 but all I find is the 270 Speer SP. I haven't laid eyes on them yet but I want to ensure that I get something broad shouldered to get them reasonably close to the lands. I started off with 286 TSX and they're just too damned long and likely tougher than is necessary at 9.3x62 velocities. There's just no way in the world that a person needs the toughest bullet on the planet to shoot moose/caribou/bear at 2400-2500 FPS. In fact, I can't see it being a good idea either as too tough a bullet may not expand properly at low velocities. My 9.3 is a Husky 98 that is an irons-only rig so über-pointy and über-tough bullets are not necessary.

Is the Speer all I can hope for or is an alternative out there that I haven't found yet? 286 gr RN-IB or Barnes Original would sure be nice bullets, if they exist.

Here you go! Posted in your other thread, as well.

a 9.3x62 with a CIP chamber will have a very long tapered throat, completely unlike what you would see on a SAAMI spec 30-06 or 270 or similar.

You will not get close to the lands and stay under magazine length, and if you do, you are likely to stick them because of the taper. I have a Husky 98 in 9.3x62 as well as a 1640 and they both have identical throats.

that said, Norma, Lapua, Woodleigh make RN 366 bullets, and tradexcanada shows they stock the 286 grain prvipartizan Rn bullets

The 286 gr Prvi Partizan bullets are about the bluntest I've had experience with and they readily available from Tradex and Dave Friesen at bcredneck.com.

I haven't shot anything with them so I don't know how they perform on game but they appear to be well constructed with a fairly thick jacket.

Here's a photo of some cross-sectioned 9.3's(the PP's are 2nd from the right)
