9.3x 74R

What's the best place to get 9.3x74R brass?

Tradex has Privi and Hornady with Privi being likely the most economic.
I haven’t tried their brass in 9.3 but it’s been just fine in 303 and 6.5x55
Federal factory loads at Prophet River with premium bullets

I have a Beretta Silver Sable O/U double in 9.3x74R. It is an odd but very likeable combination of being svelte and substantial at the same time. Beautiful wood and engraving, and a really good S&B scope on top. I'm still getting used to shooting it, but it will come hunting wth me this year. I have used a 9.3x62 a reasonable amount, and they are ballistic twins. Going to like this one. It's regulated with 286 Norma Oryx, and so far i've found those and Lapua Mega and the cheaper PPU RN bullets that look so much alike also shoot well in it. I use the cheap PPU ones for practise. Norma Oryx is high quality loaded ammo in this caliber. I bought my components and factory ammo from Tradeex

My original thought of 7828 doesn’t seem to have much merit as I haven’t found any data relating to the 9.3x74R
Looks like 4350 and 4831 might fill the case somewhat better and I’ve got lots of both on hand.
Just out of curiosity I filled a case with RL-15 that I’ve been using and weighed the charge.
Case capacity is 79 grains so my load of 55 grains leaves lots of air space.
I did not repeat did not seat a bullet or attempt to fire the round with that case full of RL-15
Charges of 60-64 grains of 4350 or 4831 are likely the way to go with future loads.

Thanks for the info guys and sorry for the late reply, I've been putting in some long days lately and haven't been on the puter much!

I'm going to speculate that 4831 will be too slow, and 4350 might be too. The x74 has slightly greater case capacity than the x62, but not much greater, and I find RL 15 and Varget about right in the x62. I was going to try Ramshot BigGAme, but everybody seems to be out of stock at the moment.

55 grs RL 15 seems a little light, considering the larger case capacity. In my x62, 58.5 grs gives close to factory ballistics, and 60 grs pushes the velocity up to 2,450 or so.

I don't have a 9.3x74R ;) yet but in my 9.3x62, and using the 285gr PRVI bullet, both IMR 4320 and IMR 4064 work VERY well :d:d.

Thanks Gents
Have a full range of IMR on hand as well as Varget so will give some of those loads that have worked for you a try.
I’m going to stick with the 286 grain Lapua billets until I have the powder choice nailed down
RL-15 has been fine so far but I don’t want to burn up my limited supply on paper and I’ve taken it about as far as I can at this point

Start trying #4064, works fine and accurate in the 6 doubles and singles that I have. I got the first double in the mid-eighties when there was no available info and only European bullets. Nowadays there's lots of bullets and info, and despite trying other powder, I keep going back toe IMR4064.

Lately I have been loading 52 grains of IMR 4895 with the 286 PRVI, super accurate in my Ruger. This may be a bit of a reduced load, but it is very nice to shoot and has proved to be a good performer on game.

The 9.3 is a perfect fit in the #1. Ive had a few of them when they were around $1000 for a #1, as much as I like them I’m having trouble justifying over 2K for one.
