9.3x57 vs 9.3x62?

I really like & use a nice M46a in 9.3x57 that I got from Tradeex a few years back. I'm happy with the light weight, quickness of aim and accuracy the wee beasty attains with hardcast 280gr.boolits. I bedded the rifle & installed a Timney trigger along with workin' the sights to be on at 80 yds. using my pet load.

Nothing against the 9.3x62 fer sure, but I just have a thing for the 57. Kinda Black Forest "Euro-Fudd".

Pick what you want, I think those Tradeex rifles are the best deal doing, less than $300 will get you a quality rifle that could easily take anything on this continent.

I actually find mine to be brisk enough in 57 flavour. The 'Water hose' trajectory and limited range, combined with the fact that they hit hard actually plays in nicely to my hunting area. Heavy tight bush with open meadows; acreages on the top of the hills in most directions, 7mm Rem Mag makes me shake my head...just not cool in my area.

Only got a close up picture, was showing someone how the bolt was made to fit around the Scope. High end Tradex piece actually

Yes but you can buy a 308 or 30-06 for the same price. A 9.3x62 rifle tends to cost double that of a rifle in 9.3x57.

I don't know about double....I mean a dark bore '96 in 9.3x57 is still $250 give or take. A decent bore '98 in 9.3x62 is $400 or so. I wouldn't own a '96 in 9.3x62 for a few reasons though.

But if I own a 300 Win. Magnum, a 30-06 and a 270 do I really need a 9.3 of either flavour?

I have both and like them both. Lots. They're close enough in power the game can't tell the difference, I'm sure. I'd say get whatever rifle you find you like best and get the best deal on, regardless of the chambering. If you honestly feel the 9.3 x57 doesn't have the power you want, that's fair, but then you'd probably want to step up to a .375 H&H, and not a 9.3 x 62, anyway.
