Does anyone have any favorite loads with RL15 for the 9.3x62?
My martini custom 9.3x62 should be here this week.I have had the 9.3x64 but not the 62.I will play with the 270gr speer and 250gr nosler

thanks

grit, I don't have an RL15 loads to list but I do have a bunch of 270gr test loads waiting to go to the range with mostly Hodgdon powders and one IMR.

I also have a bunch of 250gr Accubonds on the way and hope to come with something shortly for them too.

My 9,3 is ready to come back from the Smithy finally. I can hardly wait! Sucks to own a rifle for four months and yet still haven't fired it.

I sure hope you will be posting pics of your Martini rifle, I am envious!

Know of anyone in Canada with brass for sale for the 9,3x62? and Norma bullets in this caliber?

My rifle should be back from smithy soon also, but my order for brass and bullets will be hung up for some time, couple of months,:( as distributor's supplier has to re-apply for export permits to the Dept of State, US!

I called most well know suppliers here in Can in Jan. and nothing, nothing in stock! Gee...

You could trywww.tradeexcanada.com Click on products and then reloading components. Their inventory changes quite often so check regulary.

For brass I got Graf's/PrviPartizan at BCRedneck.com, though I recall that EllwoodEpps had some Norma Brass, which has that nasty habit of costing your firstborn. I'm not too sure about Norma bullets though.

Several weeks back I started a thread at Gunboards.com listing Canadian suppliers of 9.3x57 and 9.3x62 components. There might be a an extra lead for you there, and by all means feel free to add any further information that you may have.

With Regards,

Frank

These are some loads that I've run through my 9.3X62 over a Chrony

I would have to say that 59 gr of RL15 with the Nosler Partition is my favorite so far. I have also heard good things about Ramshot Big Game powder with the NP

RL15 270 gr Speer

58 gr --- 2396 fps
59 gr --- 2445 fps -- very accurate(<1 moa)
60 gr --- 2504 fps
61 gr --- 2569 fps -- accurate max load(1 moa)
---------------------------------------------------
H414 270 gr Speer

61 gr --- 2381 fps
62 gr --- 2409 fps
63 gr --- 2445 fps
64 gr --- 2476 fps

none of these loads grouped as well as I like.
-------------------------------------------------
IMR4064 270 gr Speer

57 gr --- 2342 fps
--------------------------------------------------

RL15 286 gr Nosler Partition

57 gr --- 2383 fps very accurate(<1 moa)
59 gr --- 2397 fps accurate(1moa)
--------------------------------------------------

Mauser, if you don't mind me asking,

-what kind of rifle and barrel length?
-brand of brass and primer?
- what do you do for bullet seating?

Thank you!
Noel

Noel

The rifle is a 1908 Brazilian Mauser(Oberndorf manufacture) with a 24 3/4" Bevan King barrel that was profiled at Corlanes to a .60" muzzle. They also lapped the lugs and squared the receiver ring as part of their barreling services. The bottom metal is from an unknown Mauser that doesn't have the locking screw holes. The trigger is a Dayton-Traister. The recoil pad is 1" Pachmayr Decelerator Old English on a Black walnut stock.

The rifle weighs 8 lbs 6 oz scoped with a Leupold VX-I 2-7X33.

Currently, I'm using Norma brass(from Epps) and CCI large rifle primers. I have 100 Lapua brass in reserve:)

My OAL of 3.28" is pretty much determined by the magazine box length. To date, I haven't determined my max OAL if mag length wasn't a factor.

Sounds like a very nice Rifle!

Thanks for all the info.
This will save me some guess work for mine hopefully.

A bit off topic but I bet alot of people would love to see pics of that "little" rifle.

The most accurate load i have found for my 9.3 is Varget,It will shoot clover leafs with 270 Speer and 60 grains or 286 Norma and 58grains.

The only load I use in my 9.3x62's is the 250 gr Barnes X with VV-N550 powder in Norma brass. It goes 2640 fps, shoots flat and has proven very effective. Here's some recovered bullets, left to right, gemsbuck, bushbuck, 2 kudu (yep, 2 with one shot!) and eland. All but the last weigh 250 grs, the last goes 221 grs.
