9.3x62 'plans' in motion

I finally got my 366 Wagner out to the range today, for the first time.

A nice little Husqvarna 1600 that I picked up last summer, the stock was worked on a bit, a one piece Redfield base with integral peep sight (obtained, fittingly enough, from Why Not? himself) added and an old El Paso Weaver V-7 with command post installed.

I was a little hesitant to shoot this one. With scope, it weighs 7lb,10oz and has the original plastic buttplate. recoil was.....stiff.
Trigger pull is a bit heavy, a little over 5 pounds, but I was happy with the results. Factory Norma 285gr Oryx. Now that I know it's a keeper, I can start to work up a load.

One obtained from 'the Master', good acquisition. We're becoming, a ;)Band Of Brothers:p. Welcome to the club.

Just the scope base came from Ted. The rifle I got from Accuracy Plus. lots of dings in the stock when I got it, but they steamed out nice. Checkering was touched up a bit, and about 15 coats of tung oil applied. Looks much nicer now.

Just starting load development with a 300 gr bonded spitzer with an alloy-hardened core.

First loads are at 2270 fps. Heading for 2400 and shooting into 1 1/2" at 100. :)

I'll bet these will go through anything we want to hunt, and in any direction.

Ted - have you tried Woodleigh's 320gr bullets? They don't have any load data listed for it, but they do list a RL15 +310gr in a .35 Whelen at +2400fps.

No, but Boomer has, and he is getting a bit over 2400 using H414, and does so with good case life. He should chime in here before too long.

I have loaded a 320 gr Matrix round nose to 2200 in a 24" Husqvarna Model 46, and that is plenty in a seven pound rifle!

What can you tell us about the throats in Husky's? Long, short medium length or all over the place in your experience.
I notice that a lot of the loads listed in some of the posts above seem to be way over the maximums of some of the loading manuals, and I'm wondering if long throats could be accounting for lower pressures in some rifles.

They're usually pretty good at sending you data if you email them. As I recall they were very free with the data when I was working up a load for my 470 NE.

With the Norma 325s and H-414, 63.5 got me 2293 and 64.0 was 2324 with an extractor mark. With 64.0 grs of N-550 I got 2324 without pressure signs.

My bullet selection for the ".366 Wagner" and my also recently acquired 375 H&H improved today with the arrival of a 'care package' from Marshal at Matrix. Some 290gr FB for the .366 and some 300gr FBRN for the .375.
