9.3x62 superformance Loads

So, I got a new to me 9.3x62 and finally have enough space to start reloading.

I’ve never reloaded for the 9.3 and was curious if anyone could give me some ideas for starting loads using Superformance powder as that’s what I have got for my wife’s 243.

I actually was planning to use the 270gr speers. And was trying to keep the number of powders to a minimum.

I did try and get a hold of ramshot but to no avail. I have a copy of Mr Barness’s 9.3 loads.

I would check a burn rate chart for suitable powders. Barseness uses Ramshot Big Game; I would put that at the slow end, anything much slower burning and you're going to fill the case before you reach max pressure.
At the fast end I would put 4895.
Between those two, I would look first for a powder that's readily available. Or cheapest, if cost is a factor, and it is for most of us.
You may have to extrapolate data from a near neighbour on the chart; start low and work up.
Currently I'm using RL15 because I have enough to last for a while, but I'm not confidant about getting more. When that runs low, I'll probably try CFE 223.
Another way to look at it, is any powder that works well in a .308 will work well in a 9.3.

Mine does quite well with 4895 and a 286gr. bullet. If you’re going to try and run a minimal variety of powders for a bunch of cartridges Varget should probably be one of them anyway.

1. RL17 - 67.0 grs (compressed) - 2600 fps
2. H4350 - 67.0 grs (compressed) - 2500 fps

It shows as a bit slower than H4350.

I’d seen your post! That’s actually what got me interested in trying it out. What was your starting point for load development if you don’t mind me asking
 
I started 3.0 grs lower than that and went up by 1.0 gr each step. Your brass and seating depth might find you compressed at a different amount.

Superformance is close to 4350, a popular choice for 9.3s. May not be optimal but it'll work
starting to like Sup for more cartridges lately

I would also suggest varget. But there is lots of powder that works, ramshot big game, h4350 have also worked great for me!
I mean try what you have and see what are the results! It might work great in your rifle!
What is the rifle?
