9.3x62 superformance Loads

I actually was planning to use the 270gr speers. And was trying to keep the number of powders to a minimum.

I did try and get a hold of ramshot but to no avail. I have a copy of Mr Barness’s 9.3 loads.

My 9.3x62 load for my M77 Hawkeye is 62.5gr RL17, Lapua brass, 270gr speer. I get around 2450fps.

I would also suggest varget. But there is lots of powder that works, ramshot big game, h4350 have also worked great for me!
I mean try what you have and see what are the results! It might work great in your rifle!

Usually they are or can be really accurate rifles and not picky on powder/bullet combo.
I would try what you have and see what turns out! If superformance doesn’t work or don’t achieve what you are looking for buy h4350 or varget, they seem to be easy to find and plentiful, buy a few pounds cause they work for so many chamberings!!

Just go off what Andy suggested, start 4pm lower and work up take it easy cross reference with close burn rate powders and see if it makes any sense.

So to confirm start 4gr lower and cross reference with similar burning powders.

Just did a quick search and can’t find anything regarding that powder and that bullet combo…. Or any bullets combo for that matter… maybe safer to go buy a pound or two of varget, h4350 or ramshot big game!!

I started 3.0 grs lower than that and went up my 1.0 gr each step. Your brass and seating depth might find you compressed at a different amount.

CFE223 works with 250 grain Accubonds for a good 2600 fps. Pressure will spike quickly so be careful. The data is out there online.

In your case, you have a big leg up as it's a "known" powder, there just aren't any published loads with it for your application (9.3X62).

Firstly, just because there aren't any published loads for your application, doesn't mean that using that powder is "dangerous". At worst it's not optimal, e.g. as an extreme example, using US869 in the 9mm Luger. In many cases, it might work well, but commercial load development is time consuming and costly and few handloaderss load for 9.3X62.

In this case you have published loads and a Burn Rate Chart. You need "reference loads" with powders that are near Superformance in Burn Rate and have published loads for the 9.3X62. Importantly you need a chronograph as well. The chronograph is a very good estimator of pressure.

Quick little update, set my dies and powder charges. Ended up running out a small handful 63-65gr of superformance to test out next time I’m on the range.

For now I’m trying to keep it close to factory loads as I haven’t found a side mount to attach a scope and I’m relying on its iron sights.
