I have been going over the Web looking for data for 286 gr bullets and IMR4350. Most of the posts and articles I am finding are people using Alliant powders or vihitavouri or ramshot.
Now I know IMR4350 will work as I have seen published data for it. My question is are you finding good accuracy? Consistency? Or is it just not worth it.
In my part of the country the only available powders are Hodgdon and IMR
I have lots of 4350 on hand as well as varget and 4895, 3031, and 4064.
The projectiles I will be trying are prvi, woodleigh and nosler partitions all 285 or 286 gr
Thanks for your help

I tried IMR4350 with S&B 285 gr bullet. Seems like IMR4350 is too slow. Velocity was high enough but not consistent. Velocity spread got better as loads got heavier loads but I ran out of powder space first. Had better luck with faster powders.

I shoot a 375 When Improved which is so close that mild loading data (starting loads) are interchangeable. I've had best luck with IMR4064, and the best bullet was 270gr.

Unfortunatly no RL-15 around here. I do know the load data exists I was more looking for answers from people who have actually used IMR4350 ect. I guess I will end up trying 10 or so with all the powders a little faster than 4350.
Data looks promising with it however I do prefer shot to shot consistency
Thanks for your help

I think you can get the I4350 to work fine with the 285's. Hodgdon only shows data for the 270's but start with 58gr and work up to something acceptable for your needs. I'd probably stop around 2350fps as that is lots of whollop.

Actually.... Should probably ask you what rifle you are using before recommending loads lol.

Thanks for all your replies. I will probably give varget, 4895 and 4064 a try. Save my 4350 for my other calibers. I'm hoping to get 2300 fps or so with an accurate load. Not looking to hot rod it.
Sure wish Alliant powders were available I'm my area. Not worth it for me to pay shipping if other powders will get me to where I want.
Thanks again everyone

Varget is great for the 9.3x62, my go to powder with the Privi bullet, 58.5 or 59 grains for 2440-2450 fps range. I tried IMR-4350 and had dismal results. It's a touch slow, and if I pulled a number out of a hat, IIRC all I got was low 2200 fps range with a darn near full compressed load.

That will work for me for a start.
I was planning on starting at 57 and working up to max with the prvi. I like varget in other calibers and find it very consistent and clean

Also check Hodgdon and Nosler websites for some free load data for the 9.3-Bock.

Catchy - nice to see the father of the 9.3X62 properly attributed. ;)

With the 285 Prvi, IMR4350 and H4350 are very good, but are just a bit too slow for a full case to produce max pressure if top MV's is what you seek.

Powders slightly faster are required for that, for example Reloder 17. I will be trying Reloder 16 and IMR4451 when things thaw out and they should be good candidates.
