9.3x62

Tradex is out of stock on a lot of components, my usual go-to for bullets. Lapua brass is still reasonably easy to source, though getting damned pricey.

If I didn't already have a 9.3 and a good stock of components I probably wouldn't invest in one now.

It is really easy to reform 30-06 brass, i have a mold for cast, a neighbor, and Whynot? have loaded cast bulletts to 2200 feet per second. And others have resized 375 cal bulletts down to 366. Plus there is still factory loads at Hougens Sportslodge

After deciding to get a 9.3 and in preparation, I started a small quest for components. Prior to the arrival of my M70 full wood Zastava arriving from Trade Ex, from a local site member:) I acquired 100 new Lapua brass and 100 PRVI 285gr bullets to get me started. Since that time, I've also picked up 8 boxes of once fired Norma brass. Usually at gun shows, I've also gradually acquired QUITE a selection of bullets to test, but never got to that, yet. This is because of the GREAT accuracy I've got on paper with my handloads using the 285gr PRVI bullets, I haven't seen the need for additional testing,;) yet. Not long ago, with 'things' seeming to be taper off at Trade Ex, I stocked up with an additional 4 bags of 50 PRVI 285gr bullets while the getting was good:).

the same for caliber to reload as of today.

Have one, and hunt with it regularly. Preferred load is a partition over a max load of 4064....not the ideal powder, but I have lots of it and it is an accurate load. PRVI bullets are used for practice, although I wouldn't hesitate to use them on moose/caribou/black bears.

The two powders I've worked with so far are IMR 4320 & IMR 4064. Again, using the 2885gr PRVI bullet, accuracy with both :d has FAR surpassed anything I thought I'd get. For other bullets I've accumulated to try/test ;) some day down the line, I do have;
- Barnes 286gr TSX Flat Base
- Norma 231 gr
- Norma 286gr
- Speer 250gr
I also had some by Matrix Ballistics Ltd. but these I traded off to a gentleman on site. The remainder as listed, I keep but plan to stay with the 285gr PRVI ;) for now at least:).

4064 is the perfect powder for it. not the best with dealing with temperature but for the rest nothing better and it works great on grizzly and bison.

I like anything on an '06 case, especially the .338-06 A-square, .35 Whelen, and 9.3x62. They're perfect for anything in Canada, absolute sledgehammers. And more tolerable recoil than a .338WM. I'm putting a .35 together currently, but I think it'll be a 9.3 next.

H4895 is another excellent one. Temp stable, very high speeds and excellent accuracy with bullets from 210 to 286 grains.
