Hi,

I wonder if is possible to turn .270Win bolt action rifle (Remington 700) into 9.3x62 or 9.3x64 caliber.

Do you know who is doing this?
I would like to make a little custom rifle out of my Rem700 .270Win, please advice.

9.3x62 would be easy you could replace the barrel or rebore, the same with 9.3x64 only it would have to have the bolt face opened and mabey need some work to get it to feed.where are you located?

Thanks RiverRat,
I would like to use 286grain bullet in 9.3x64 Brenneke, which will give me 2500/2600fps velocity @muzzle, therefore I have to figure out, what barrel lenght would be best. I will prefer to stay with 22" to keep the rifle lighter to carry, however would put whatever will work for accuracy. As for barrel type I will go with medium chrome-molybdenum.

Stock synthetic or good laminate will do, but detachable magazine is needed for my type of hunting.

Right now I have a rifle which is Rem700 BDL DM in .270Win which is ready to be converted to 9.3x64 or 9.3x62

I live in south Ontario.

Sako, Tikka and CZ all offer rifles in this caliber. It would be more economical to purchase a new rifle than to re-barrel an existing one unless you want to go all out for a purpose built custom. Just crunch the numbers and you'll quickly see that it would cost you the same to buy a really nice Sako. Sell the .270 and put those funds towards the new one. Epps has a couple of the new 9.3x66 Sakos in syntethic/stainless for around $1500 - about what you would have into a re-barrelled and re-stocked Remington. I am not very familiar with the balistics of the new Sako round but on paper it looks like a winner.

I have a T-3 in 9.3x62 that your welcome to try sometime - I picked it up new for around $700. I haven't tried the CZ's but they are usually a quality products and might be worth checking out as well.

I have a CZ 550 in 9.3x62 very nice shoots under 3/4 inch.Knida like the set trigger on the CZ.Rifleboy I don't know any good gun smiths down east someone else may be able to help.

I don't want to wait for new CZ or Sako in 9.3x62 because they are not standart American calibers. 9.3x64, from what I remember is only made by very few European gun makers and is neglected in NA because .375HH is so simular in balistics.
9.3x66 is all Sako and no one else makes them. On the paper looks good, but I am a believer in more proved cals.
I guess what I need to do is to get contacted with a gunsmith who can rechamber or install new barrel for me.

Corlane in Dawson Creek, BC will supply and install a new Bevan King on your rifle for approx $400.00.

Ralf Martini does indeed have a 9.3 X 62 Mauser reamer but it won't be available for awhile. Martini is lending it to Corlane so they can chamber my 9.3 X 62
