Anyone else out there load for the 9.3x62m Mauser?
I purchased a nice Hasq 1600 in 9.3x62mm from TradeexCanada.

What powder do most of you use? I looks like I am going to use H414 as that is all I could purchase. From the data I am pulling off the net it looks like most users are using a mg primer with W760/H414? Is this normal practice? Never used a mag primer with this powder?

My local shop owner is trying to get me some H4350/IMR4350.

Im using BLC-2, I think RL-15 is more common and then IMR-4064, 4895 would also be good choices. The 4350's seem a little slow but Ive never tried them so I cant say they dont' work .

So far I've used only Varget for my 9.3x62. It's one of the M-96 action types, so I haven't loaded it warm. 56 grains Varget with a Privi 286 SP gets about 2,300 fps IIRC. I also use regular primers, not magnum.

My 9.3X62 is built on a 98 action with a 21" barrel - shortened from 24" a while back

With the 24" barrel I was getting up to 2475 fps with a load of 64 gr of H414 and 270 Speer bullets with std primers.

I tried some H4350 behind some Prvi Partizan 286 gr bullets. With a max load(Hodgdon site) of 67 gr I was getting 2400 fps from the 21" barrel. The load was firmly compressed.

IMO, H4350 and H414 are too slow for the x62

I like both RL15 and Varget in my rifle with 270 and 286 gr bullets. Both powders give virtually identical velocities with the same amounts of powder. But I lean more toward the Varget because accuracy is noticeably better.

I make reform my brass from .35 whelen and load the 270 Speer with 58 grains of IMR 4064 this cronograghs close to 2500 fps in a long barrel like a cz 550 I currently use this load in a T3 Battue light and get 1.5" groups at 200 meters.

I shoot a 375 Whelen Improved which is nearly identical except the diameter. Mine thrives on IMR4064 and 270gr. bullets. Handloader did a great write up on 9.3x62 a while ago, if you can find a copy it should be a big help.
