I have just sign in my application to become a member of the exclusive club of 9.3x64 caliber :)

Ya, today, I got Sauer 90 Elegance model in 9.3x64 cal.
It is an awesome rifle, with set trigger.
Now, I have question to those who use this cal.

Where do you get a brass in North America?
I know that RWS makes some and that is it, from what I hear.
They sell it for 110 -e in Frankonia, German hunting store.

What size bullets will you recommend for that rifle. I will reload myself, and
from what I hear, RCBS makes dies, probably special order.

Comments needed,

Thanks

Natchez has RWS brass in 9.3x64, as does Huntingtons. I'd give the 286gr Partition a try.

The one I had loved the 286gr partition,it was devastating on moose.
Brass wasn't that hard to come by.If you don't have any luck with brass, drop me a pm as I might have some kicking around

Great caliber

Oh you lucky Dog!
Send varminter a pm and say I sent you, he was working on getting some from Germany IIRC. They were close to $2 a piece.
Hornady was making noise about making them sometime in 07 but won't say when.
Martini& Hagn might have some too.

Keep us posted, I really want one of these bad boys!

I got a call from Ralph Martini in ref. to 9,3x64 brass and he sells them now for $27 can,- incl.shipping.
@PETER PAN
Congrats to your 9,3 Brenneke.Depending on what you want to hunt with it ,but i would use the 250gr BT for anything short of Moose and Big Bears and any of the 270 or 286gr will kill anything and if it doesn't?Well i doubt you would actually want to have it killed.:)
By the way,did you ever have anything to do with the Polish Grom?

Thanks guys.
I am fixated on old good cartridges and 9.3x64 was just a mather of time for me to come. I love my 6.5x55 and now next project I think is going to be either 7x57 or 8x68, or maybe one of the super fast 6.5s.

I live in Ontario, well moose and black bear is the only thing I would go after with his cartridge.
Still debating scope, but it will not be anything less then Swarovski, Zeiss or Kahles, maybe S&B

I like to use the lighter bullets like 270gr or even 250gr, and I like bonded bullets, maybe even Barness.

I love the set trigger on this rifle, it is fully adjustable and is set to 1lb, and regular pull to 3lbs, what beauty. Trigger is really nice, no crip or over travel, just nice and smooth, like after market trigger.

Polish Grom, I left Poland in 1988, at that time we only had "Red Berets", elite parachuting unit, which operated within Warsaw Pact or Soviet supervision, without being able to make their own decision.
Grom, is different, it is based on SAS idea and is considered as one of most elite special groups. Right now they have few divisions within the Grom, but main group has about 300-350 well trained operatives.
So, I have nothing to do with that group, except that I am proud of what they have done in Serbia, Croatia, Iraq, Afghanistan without any casualties.

Recoil is going to be around 40-45lbs, bit more than my .300RUM and probably more sharp due to faster powder being used in this caliber.

Sauer is the best production bolt rifle maker in the world, at least that what my European friends tell me, better then Heym or Blaser or Mauser.
So quality of this rifle is best I can get. Wood is IV grade Walnut, barrel is made in Krupp Steelshop and is selected for hammer forging. The trigger is a custom trigger in production rifle, what a jewel. Balance of the rifle is just perfect. And the rifle didn't cost me that much, got really good deal.

I fondled a 90 in 338 wm and i'm still kicking myself for not selling one of the kids to buy it. If you happen to come across a sorce for the rings to match the Sauer bases pm me as I'm "in the market".

Recoilwise, the 9,3x64s kick is more of a push than a kick and it is in the class of the 375,but of course stockdesign makes a difference.I don,t know, whether Sauer makes the best production rifle in europe? It does make nice rifles, that,s for sure. Some of the Sauer 90 have been manufactored in Japan, which decreased the reputation of Sauer a bit,but as i said,it's a great rifle.

I was just looking into a 9.3 Sako (9.3 x 66mm), please post a range report when you get your rifle up and running.

Andy

I am not rushing into the range with this rifle.
I would like to put nice scope on it,
I need brass and dies to start loading my own.
Most likely around June/July I will be ready.

Well since you don't seem to be in a rush, I'd hassle Hornady as they are rumored to start selling it in 07. If you just need a few, talk to Martini&Hagn or perhaps someone here may have 20 you can talk them out of. I haven't gotten any yet.

Guys,

I have got brass and bullets. I will go with Barness 286gr slug and the brass is from Huntingtons - RWS.
I am still waiting for dies :(, I've order them in early December and is a special order from Redding.

Can you please tell me which shell holder should I get for 9.3x64?

In German catalog from Frankonia they suggest RCBS 42, is it?

Thanks
