From the reading I've done this cartridge introduced by Sako a few years back is simply a 9.3x62 case stretched 4mm but still fitting in a 30-06 length action. It appears to be another euro thing that isn't offered in north america although I see RCBS lists special order dies and Z Hat in the states is making custom brass. Anyone seen any rifles or reloading components for the 9.3x66 Sako in Canada by chance?

I have a new reamer for this round. I saw a new Sako rifle and ammo and brass in Fort St. John last summer. I would like to find some brass to try it out now. Apparantly it's made from cylindrical .30/06 brass. Do you know where I could locate some of that? I have an M98 in 9.3x57 that would be a good candidate to try it on.

Uh-oh, the 9,3 bug has bit another victim........
I will keep an eye out Salty, I haven't found much as of yet.

Any specific reason you are looking at the 66 Sako case?

Well its official. The worse gun nutz are in Canada as far as the intraweb goes anyways. :D Glad to hear there's some interest in this one up here.

I do in fact own one. I love it and can't see myself losing interest in it ever.

I researched this rifle/calibre combo and when I purchased it from a member on CGN, Stoeger Canada was still not importing it to Canada. I asked where it was picked up but the fellow I bought it from was not the original owner either. He didnt know who imported it. He did say he could find out but I didnt pursue it.

This rifle is accurate as hell. I don't find the recoil to bad. still not what I take to the range when I want to just punch paper. Components are not cheap.

For the time being I'm just using RCBS 9.3x62 dies. Everything chambers smooth and as you can see it don't lack in the accuracy department.

You must have found some rings by now too.:) This wil be a fun project to watch through to completion. Please keep us posted!

Booner, those are incredible groups, nice shootin!

Care to share what you use for a load?

No. But she's only in 8mm right now and the stock hasn't cracked. I will glass bed and probably put a brass pin in the tang area for preventative measures.

cccan was good enough to send me some Leupold Detacho rings! :D Mind you they don't fit. :( The soon to be given up on bases (probably) are of a very similar design but smaller..

I'm not sure if it will be the 9.3 Sako or 9.3X62 or a 358 of some sort but my intentions with the rifle are for a mid bore project.

Mind you again, my mechanic just called and looks like I owe him a G note tommorow so this ain't going to happen over night.

Now back to the communisto/metric/Scandahoovian 9.3x66

If I may be so bold Salty, please get the action pinned and bedded before you shoot it! I just cracked the tang on my Brno 21H in 8x57 while testing loads two weeks ago. I had relieved the tang but not the rear guard screw.
Up to that point the gun was close to 90% condition so you can imagine the thoughts going through my head when we found the crack.
I was talking with Supercub about it, he told me about how stock shrink a bit as they get older and dry out, I'm sure I am preaching to the choir here, only want to save you the heart ache!

Too bad Cam's rings don't fit. Hopefully something turns up by the time you have recovered from the lovely mechanics bill.;)

Not Cheap Salty! OUCH! If it cost this much, you may as well get a 64 Brenneke made, I think the brass is less than this! I'll keep looking but I've never turned up much.......

There is a post on the AR site about Lebaron's in Canada having brass too! The thread is from 2005 but perhaps it is still valid.

Best of luck!

Hey boonerbuck. You say you're using Sako brass. Where did you find it?

And how do the x62 dies work for the 9.3 Sako? Can you properly full length resize?

How much more is the brass going to cost a year? Can't be too much considering how much it costs to build a custom rifle.

It's not like the 9.3's are gopher blasters!

Would be a heck of a grouse gun though!

Have you talked to Hornady about a 225 grain vmax for next coyote season?

Brass is definately more expensive for the 9.3x66 than it is for my 9.3x64.Hey Noel, how is your 62 working out?I got my custom 9.3x62 back and i am waiting for my bell and carlson stock. If you need any 62 brass,i am going to Austria and i found some deals there for once fired lapua Brass.
They go for under $50,-for 100 pieces.Let me know.
