I may be close to making a deal for a Ruger #1 9.3x74, but iam concerned about case life, I could accept the fact they are expensive if they last along time. It seems to me that being almost straight wall and low pressure they should be good for 10 loadings or more??
Any input from experienced users would be greatly appretiated.

While the cal. (9.3) doesn't do much for me, the case certainly does, the Ruger is a very strong action and if you used heavy loads I believe case life could be limited, but the loads usually seen in manuals and meant for euro doubles would be very easy on cases. I would stock up on cases anyways in case everyone drops this chambering.

No chance of "everyone" dropping the 9.3 x 74R. It is one of the most popular chamberings in Europe, we're just a little slow to catch on in North America. How you resize will make a difference on the life of any case, but in a strong, rigid #1 action case life should be good.

I have that gun in that chambering. Case life is good. Buy 100 cases and you'll be set for life. - dan

Case life is good ? how many loadings do you get ? I can see myself shooting about 500 rounds a year. I might wear out 100 cases a year
Dan what load do you use in your rifle.

60 gr of H380 behind the Speer 270 gr bullet, if memory serves. The cases are RWS, and I get about 10 reloads from each, so far. - dan

I have several hundred Speer 270's on hand and close to 1000 Prvi 285's, I also buy H414 and IMR 4064 in 8lb cans, so I think Iam good to go. I have never tried H380, but will look into it.
