I'm a little puzzled by the 124 vs. 147 debate. For LE/military I gather that the consensus amongst "many" experts is that higher velocity of 124 grain is preferable to the higher mass 147 grain but...
On the other hand from what I can piece together the RCMP use Ranger SXT 147. I have to assume that the RCMP has made a highly informed choice. At the risk of stirring up another heated debate...any input or thoughts on this?

Tossing ideas out there off the top of my head, but I'd personally want 147's over the 124's.

Want as much mass as possible with a 9mm so if you need to shoot through a windshield or vehicle door.....

I believe that the general consensus is that hollowpoints expand much more effectively with higher velocities. The 124 moves quicker and causes a larger wound channel.

Personally, I keep 115 +P+.

Take a look at the latest research as many of the 147's have been redesigned over the years. The 147's are now designed to expand at the velocities they are driven and they do so well. They also typically penetrate better than the other bullet weights out there. Right now, they are the ones to have.
