9mm is blowback it uses dedicated bolt (bolt and carrier are one piece)

In order to use 9mm you will need to install 9mm hammer or have your 9mm bolt ramped then you can use any hammer. You also need mag block (Hahn makes a really nice one)

To answer your other question you can use standard AR15 upper (Greentips did that swap and I believe it work out ok for him)

Some ejection ports are half size, some are full size without the brass deflector. I've owned both types.

The "brass deflector" is just a piece of plastic attached by the ejection port cover pivot "rod". The upper is the same as a regular AR upper - minus the gas tube hole and different sight aperatures

Well, I am curious now<<

With my factory 223 upper . I need just a barrel and bolt ?? And Hammer and block the gas port<<.

What exactly do I need to use it ( 223 Upper ) to shoot 9 mM.

Nothing fancy I dont care about sights or any thing fancy.<<<<

you can use a reg AR upper ...and you dont need a 9mm hammer a m16 hammer works just fine (no notch) you can use your standerd lower but you will need a mag block

a factory 9mm upper has NO hole for the gas tube as its blowback

the orig 9mms had a1 sights
