9" or 12" Quad Rail

Got a choice to make today for an NEA-15.

Getting the 14.5 inch barrel model.

Choice is between the two sized quad rails.

All I will hang off it for now is an AFG, and a folding front sight.


Any input?

Will I notice that much of a weight difference between the two?
 
X3 on the longer version.
If you got long "monkey arms" like me you will want more handgaurd length. And the plus is if you dont like it that long...you can shorten it to a custom fit for you. The extra weight is well worth the comfort. IMO
 
So, went with the 12 " rail.

Went to the retailer in person on a whim.

Money dropped, awaiting ATT, even have enough cash left over to get a good coffee for the ride home and to take the family out for dinner tonight.

Im stoked.
 
I have a 12" rail on my 16" barrelled AR. Mounting stuff that close to the muzzle is pretty cool. I have a Magpul front and back BUIS on it and the longer sight radius makes me happy.

I was thinking of making a similar build. I'll probably use the same kind of 12" quad rail as I already have now on my current 16" AR, will install a 10.5" barrel and some kind of muzzle device like the Noveske KX3 to throw all that fire to the front. Should make for a cool-looking SBR.
 
I've been wondering the same. Thinking of getting into CQB, but I never throw my arm that far out. I always put my hand just in front of the mag area. I'm not buying this rifle in order to use BUIS so I'm wondering if the balance of the rifle would be better off with the 9" rail instead. Unfortunately, there's no hands on to feel the difference.

Any real world experience out there for CQB?
