92fs upgrades?

Hello all,

I recently purchased a stock made in Italy 92fs on the EE. I love the gun so far and have had no issues with it but I was wondering what upgrades you folks on this site would deem absolutely necessary and which ones would fall into the nice to have but more of a want than a need. e.g. I know a lot of people replace the guide rods with steel ones or get new springs, have you done this to your 92fs? was it worth it? what other worthwhile upgrades are out there?

D spring and elite hammer were the go to mods,however the elite hammer is now discontinued. I'm planning fixing all the #### I didn't like on my other one when I get my new one. Wilson combat low profile safety amd extended mag release since the safety gets in the way of powerstroking the gun and I don't need a right side safety and I have girl hands So I want the extended mag release and short reach trigger.

Steel trigger
Novak carry rear sight
Extended Mag release button
Grips.

what I would like is the Wilson Combat safety and their G10 thin grips
 
Ed brown 1911 main spring and wolff tcu for me. And wilson combat guide rod and trigger.

Ed brown 1911 with wolff rp tcu yield a 3.5lb SA trigger and a 7lb DA trigger

With mine i went for what i could find for function

D spring ,full length guide rod,short reach metal trigger
have seen some nice wood grips but scarce and pricey so ,,not sure on that one yet
and i love it now

Beretta just changed the part number (from UD5A0584 to EU00042 and getting rid of the "Elite" name); BUSA has it for sale online, Brownells needs to catch up: http://www.berettausa.com/en-us/92-96-skeletonized-hammer-hammer-elite-ii/eu00042/

Back to the OP, for me it was
- Beretta steel trigger (short reach trigger + vertec frame was too small for me)
- Beretta extended mag release
- D main spring
- Elite skeletonized hammer

I would like VZ grips for my Vertec Inox, but they don't have them (yet).

That's really good to know I couldn't figure out why they would discontinue it but thabks for the new part #.
 
The Beretta doesn't need much to make it a good shooter.

It really only suffers from the integral front sight, but you can fix that by blacking out the rear dots with a sharpie and using high visibility paint on the front dot.

As noted above, the D spring is a good addition. I also would buy a pair of aggressively textured grips.

Other than that, replace the trigger return spring after 5K rounds and buy ammo. I'm not sold that a steel guide rod helps wth much and my Elite II still has it's plastic rod and trigger. I can regularly get splits in the mid to high teens with the gun, so I see no need to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

How did you get 3.5 and 7 from that heavy of a spring, I have 12lb hammer springs and only get 5 and 7 and my 96 has a everything you listed plus the 12lb hammer spring and a custom sear and still only 4 and 6.5. Cylinder and slide sells a low mass kit that comes with custom sear, skeltonized hammer, rp trigger spring and a 12lb hammer spring and it still needs to be stoned and polished to get to 3.5 and 6.
 
Cause the free length of the spring is considerably shorter than a 92fs hammer spring with the same poudage.

Plus the low mass kit that younare talking about does not alter Da/sa pull weight much. It just has a low mass hammer so that the hammer accelerate quicker thus hopefully to have the same lock time using a factory hammer spring so that your primer strike succession rate is not compromise

So then its not a 19lb when installed in a Beretta, but anything less than the 12lb im running and you will get light primer strikes, even with the 12 you need to run federal primers for it to work. The sear they sell does reduce the pull weight by about 1 lb or so and like I said I have a 12lb spring, custom sear and the Wolf reduced tcu unit and dont get those numbers in SA.

BTW the Wolf tcu sucks balls in DA, I have one in my 96 because I shoot it SA only but in DA they are horrible, very gritty, and also slow down the reset, bought 4 for all of my berettas and ended up swapping them for the longer life factory type from Wilson.

4. Lighter hammer spring
All from Brownells. Really noticeable upgrades.

I don't mind the stock plastic grips but I did get the Beretta/Hogue rubber wrap around grips. I also got the gold Beretta guide rod but I'll probably get rid of it.

The D spring is the hammer spring. Factory is 20lb, D spring is the 16lb Beretta puts in the DA only model, Wolf sells one as low as 13lb and Wilson a 12lb.
 
Its 19lb in a 1911. I never said its 19lb in a 92fs. No one knows what poundage it is in a 92fs. Well documented on ar15.com, the high road and m4carbine forum.

Go see for yourself instead of me holding your hands through it.

Your missing the point, regardless of what a 19lb 1911 spring is in a 92, a 12lb is the lightest you can go and still have it ignite primers and that is only if you use soft Federal primers, so even with a 12lb and in combination with every other available light trigger option available you cant get that low just swapping parts.

Did a quick google search and found 2 things:
1: a 19lb 1911 hammer spring is aprox the same as the 16lb D spring.
2: A Wilson combat 92 with the Wilson trigger job and D spring is 9lb DA and 5.6lb SA.
