How many rounds of heavy stuff down the barrel until you could shoot the cheap whinchest and federal stuff? Also did you use 2 3/4 slugs 00 buck or 3"? And do you have to clean between the transition?

I put 20 rounds of 3 inch Steel BB through mine because it was what I had in the safe.

After that I went straight to the trap field, and went through a case worth of various cheap target loads without a hiccup.

I am not sure the 20 rounds of Geese loads was even necessary, and I never cleaned it the whole time at all.

Here is what I did to "break in" my 930:

Bring 15 rounds of 3" magnum slugs and a box of your Winchester 2 3/4" #4 birdshot

Shoot 5 3" slugs fast, slow, whatever you feel comfortable with. They try 5 shells of #4 and see if they all fire and extract without issue (as fast and as safely as you can or as your range allows). If you still get a malfunction, do another 5 slugs and repeat the cycle.

It took me one box of 5 3" magnum slugs before it would shoot cheap wally mart #4 birdshot.

Before that, I would have a few "stovepipes." After, all is good.

Cleaning is upto you, I clean my 930 three times per season and it's sitting in a case right now uncleaned since October :) During my breakin session, I never cleaned it.

Hope that works for you!

Now that's being thorough :)

Get all 20 rounds of break in shells out of the way in one sitting. I wish I had thought of that!.

Mine doesn't shoot any light loads. All I shoot are heavy losds, slugs 00, up to #4, but every time I shoot any cheapy target loads, might cycle 1, but then won't cycle. Sounds like it's just me, I guess. I've shot right around 500 rounds through it since I got it last spring. Anyone know if there are different springs for to cycle lighter loads? Sorry for the hijack.
