I am considering buying a Model '94 in .22LR for practice. My main rifle is a '94 in 30-30, but I figure practicing with a '94 in .22LR should help me improve my accuracy on my 30-30 as well.

I was wondering if I should consider a Winchester 94/22 or one of those Chinese Norinco JW-21 lever rifles for sale at Marstar for just under $200. I'm not sure how much a used 94/22 would be but I'm guessing double what the Chinese one sells for.

Looking for advice for anyone who may have experience with both.

thanks

I don't have any experience with the rifles you mentioned, however, I think you will be happier with the same quality lever (two winchester's) rather than getting the rinco.

Just my 2/100ths

Hey El Guapo, two of my buddies have the Norinco Lever gun in 22lr and both have "issues"...

The first gun, the tang safety fell off...

The second guys gun, the rifle has to be held level for it to properly feed rounds into the chamber...

Both of these guys are TO LAID BACK and have done nothing about it... I'd have wanted the "issues" addressed by who ever I bought it from, but not them... Geez...

Cheers

Winchester 94 or Norinco jw21

I do not think you are comparing apples with apples whether price or prcieved quality. Having said that, I have yet to have a good experience with a winchester product they are not built for our canadian winters. Unless you just want to use them in a controled environment like an inorders range. The Norinco are not la crem de la crem. You know you are not getting quality.

I have a couple of Norinco's and Winchesters in my collection I am eager to get rid off.

I have a 9422M, late '70s or early '80s vintage IIRC. It is a beautiful machine and accurate. I have no issues with it in any regard. I don't know how our Canadian winters could generate problems for it, as another poster suggested. Any cold weather-related problems I've seen have always been lube/dirt issues.

I've no experience with the Norinco. But since you already have a Win 94, getting a Win 9422 should be a given.

Shoot it often, shoot it lots.

the henry H001 is a really better buy of the norico, it cost around 250$ at sir plus, I receie one 2 week ago, really surprise of the quality. When i put the gun side by side with my win 94 only the lenght and the weigth is not the same and the henry lever travel is the same of winchester, I had tried a browning blr and the short travel of the level cut a part of the plaisure.

Where did you buy your Henry?

Also can anyone tell me the ball park price for a used 94/22?

thanks

If any one is having problems with their Winchester firearms because of the weather conditions in Canada, I'll gladly take them off their hands for free.

An Answer from one who had both

I have had both the norinco and the 9422. Still have a 9422 but not the norinco. Both shot well for me. The 9422 is a great rifle the norinco wasn't great, feed issues and thats my opinion.

Nice one. I got rid of my Henry but I am willing to trade my Norinco's and winchesters. I am working on getting rid of all of them.
